Canon 350 D with Tamron 7- - 300mm di, how are the results?

i am unsure about the tamron lens, if you have any idea please answer.
I am getting a very good deal of Canon EOS 350D (Body) + Canon EF-S 18-55mm + Tamron AF 70-300mm Di + with 1GB CF plus UV Filter & V Bag- all this at $1050. Is the price okay?

The Tamron 70-300 is cheap reach. This lens sells for just $150 at places like BeachCamera.com. So it's not the greatest, but if you're on a tight budget it will have to do.
BeachCamera lists the 350D body for $515 and the Canon 18-55mm zoom is also a budget lens... you can probably put this whole package together for less at Beach. (This store is legit, as you can check for yourself at www.resellerratings.com)
And don't get me wrong - this kit will take fantastic pictures and it's a major step up from any 12x point & shoot!
