I have been using natural henna powder (body art quality) for at least 8 yrs now. If you use the pure form of henna powder then you will be good to go.
It works as a natural hair dye that leaves your hair with reddish tones. You can add other powders to give volume, or more brown tones to black. It also helps with dandruff and is antifungal.
You can even try a simple henna gloss by adding some henna into your conditoner and giving it a boost.

My grandmother prefers Henna. You cannot use JUST henna, you have to mix it with something else. She mixes it with a dark brown natural dye and her hair still comes out bright orange. I susupect that one would get the color of the crayola orange marker if one used henna by itself. Also, the thing about it is it won't stick to hair unless you wrap it in a plastic cap and keep it on for at least two hours. After this time, your hair has potential of drying out and becoming badly brittle...depending on the condition of the starting hair. Make sure that you use a moist shampoo and conditioner following the dye job...but not for 48 hours, especially if using Henna because the color will most definitely wash out.

if u have dry hair mix henna powder with yoghurt n egg n plus some tea water n not tea leaves (for that extra dark colour).mix well n apply on a few strands of hair n circle them upwards on ur head like a bun ,then repeat the same from the other side of the hair untill u bun all ur hair up ...keep for atleast 2 hours n wash with lukewarm water ..mild shampoo n do not scrub it for long ...after the wash just rinse irt with beer n they u will have the most silky, shinyn straight hair ever ...henna wont work if u have oiled ur hair recently.....if u have a oily scalp instead of yoghurt mix some lemon juice ..that should work...

Never use Henna it will mess your hair up. Being a hairdresser you get a lot of people trying it. It strips your hair of all natural oils. It's like putting sun in in your hair. Don't do it.

I would strongly suggest to stay away from henna and any other vegetable based hair color, it coats the cuticle and can not be properly dyed over, you will regret it if you end up not liking it, you will have to cut it or wait for it to grow out.

Try to avoid it if you can. My hair became brittle and dry like straw.
Try to see a professional, they are worth it.
