A Marine recruiter caused a car accident with a semi carrying cows next to one of my dad's fields. Some of the cows escaped and trampled our fence, destroying our crops. Every time my dad, who used to be in the Air Force, talks to insurance contact with the Marines, he tells my dad he is working on it or that he was "just about to call him". However, it's three months later, and we don't have our money. We settled for a lower compensation amount than the crops would have been worth had they been sold now. We are in the middle of a drought, so the money is badly needed. What can we do?

To be quite frank, if you already settled it's going to be very hard to win in court or get additional compensation. I would maybe find out the primary contact agent regarding your case and threaten the insurer that you will bring them to court. Just because it is the Marines doesn't mean you can't influence the compensation. All insurer's are private, EVEN THE MILITARY'S! Blue Cross, Blue Sheild is typically there insurer.

P.S. I was a former insurance/investment agent. It's a corupt business, just play hardball and don't give up. I wish the best of luck and sorry to hear about your troubles.

File a lawsuit against the Marines and the Marine who was driving the car, also file against the driver of the truck. Get a good attorney. good luck.

The Department of Defense will put you off until you give up. I've heard of cases they stalled until the parties concerned died. They do that when they are guilty and it will cost the government money. Call a lawyer.

You should have gotten a lawyer before you settled. You could still call now, but I doubt its worth it. Insurance companies would keep it wrapped up in courts forever anyways.

Sorry!

You shouldn't have settled. It will probably cost you more to pursue additional damages than you will receive in a judgment.

Look into irrigation, it will probably be cheaper.

I doubt very much you can do anything about it now since you settled the claim.
