It is calculated from his permanent duty station. My husband is stationed in CA and I'm in OK. We get BAH rate of CA.

BAH is calculated by surveying the average cost of rental properties for the zipcode in which you are residing, and also by rank. I am stationed in Italy, but my family is in the states. I get BAH for both Italy and my home of record (where my family is) because I don't have command sponsorship. Since you don't need command sponsorship in the states, your husband is only eligible for the BAH allowance at his place of duty. You can go to https://secureapp2.hqda.pentagon.mil/perdiem/bah.html to find what your husband's BAH rate should be.

He can arrange for the money to be sent to your account each month. But be aware that if there is an Article 15 ect the Army can withhold that pay along with the BAS (?) pay. It's doubtful that would happen to you but it's wise to be aware. It can be devasting to a family. A lot of military families are not aware of this. Good luck!
