What can I do? My daughter goes to the bathroom sometimes. She tell me she have to go sometimes, but most of the time I have to put her on a schedule in order for her to go. I know she had surgery when she was first born on an organ inside of her stomach, We are actually getting things checked out, so Im hoping that is the problem. Not really hoping that is the problem, but I will feel better to know its not all her.

It's defenetly not all her. My sister was 5 before she was fully potty trained - heck, she's still not potty trained! My other sister wet the bed for awhile there. Sometimes people struggle with it. They'll grow out of it, no worries.

It may be a medical problem related, or she may not be ready. I know she will need to be potty trained in order to begin school, but developmentally if this is the only issue, it may not be anything abnormal. Some kids just train earlier or later than "average"

Your pediatrician will be able to help you as he/she knows your daughter's development.

My daughter was healthy, and we had problems. She had no problems with peeing, but would hold her poo, and then she'd have skidmarks on her panties. Her pediatrician said that it was because that was the one thing she could control--she can't control when she goes to bed or what she has for dinner, but she could control when she poo'd. It was a stage.

What I finally did to get her to stop was that I made her clean out her panties before putting them in the washer. She hated it, but it cured her of the skid marks real quick. I hope it's the age, and not something medical for your dd. Good luck!

Checking out any medical cause is definitely essential, so good on you for following that path.
Apart from that, I would try a very positive approach. Like a star chart for every time she goes by herself without being reminded, and then when she gets 10 stars, she is allowed to choose a treat, a kids dvd or a trip to the museum etc.

When she goes by herself, make a really big deal out of it, like it's SO WONDERFUL!!!!!! Kids are naturally proud of their achievements so using lots of encouragement and excitement is the best way.

good luck with it

Yes get her checked out she should be more reliable but many children her age are still working out the kinks in the potty training.

each child is different. My youngest was 4 before he got day trained and wore a diaper in kindergarten. He also wet the bed until he was a teenager. My other children were all different than that still. What does your doctor say? I assume you did talk with him/her about this? My opinion is your child will be toilet compliant when she is ready.

MY DAUGHTER IS 3 1/2 AND ALMOST POTTY TRAINED. SHE ALSO HAD ALOT OF UTI WHEN SHE WAS A BABY, TOO. NEVER PUSH A CHILD TO POTTY TRAIN- THEY WILL DO SO WHEN THEY ARE READY.
