Get a manicure, or some kind of set for home would be better.
My GF had a really hard time with that. One day I heard her talking about some set that came with an oil and a mult-purpose file/buffer thingy (I'm a guy, I'm sorry)... anyway, I got it for her just to be thoughtful and it actually helped her stop biting her nails. Instead, her nervous habit has become taking care of them.
She says she quit partly because she liked the way they looked and didn't want to mess them up, and partly because if she kept care of them, they didn't become rough or hang, giving her no reason to think of them when she wasn't caring for them.
Sounds wierd, but worth a shot, and the kit thingy was only a few bucks..

Mine was sheer willpower. I bit my nails from childhood and my new years resolution for 2000 was to STOP...so I did. It drove me nuts, but I've had beautiful nails for the last six years. They broke and cracked for the first few months, but taking a prenatal helped with that. I also put clear nail polish on them....if I needed to pick at something, I picked at that instead of my nails. I also painted them colors...they were so pretty, I didn't want to chip it off. Good luck! It's hard, but you'll get through it!

go for a manicure. Choose a nice nail polish colour. And admire your nails.
Next time when you want to bite your nails, think about the money and effort you have put in. I doubt you will bite your nails again.

There is this nasty tasting nail polish made just for breaking the nail biting habit, most beauty supply stores carry it. I can't remember the name of it though, sorry.

They sell clear fingernail polish that tastes nasty. It's specifically designed for nail-biters. Have you tried that?
