If you from happy to screaming in five seconds flat, then you're not bipolar. Bipolar is very different, much slower cycles (think days to many months).

But would I leave? NO, I would try to find out about the disorder and if I felt for the person, I would learn to cope and support them.

Trust me when I say this - everyone under about 40 at some time or another has seriously contemplated that _they_ were bipolar.

You could talk to your Dr. just mention that you think you're having mood swings and ask them if they can suggest any changes in your diet that could help that - for instance sugar is bad news - one minute your up , next you're down low, Caffine is the same kinda way and most everyone have alot of both in their diet. Your cycle can also affect your mood big-time.

However, if you're seriously disabled and/or medicated for bipolar disorder the above may certainly help but your boyfriend probably knew what he was getting into and he certainly likes you for some qualities that he sees in you .

First off you need to be diagnosed. If you go and you are diagnosed there is medication for that. But i wouldn't even mention anything to him unless you knew for sure. If he stays with you and you do have it and he doesn't know. Then obviously the effects of bipolar disorder aren't too much for him to leave you and he shouldn't change his mind once he finds out. Unless a the person was szhisopernic(typo) i wouldn't leave them. I have depression and anxiety and my husband stayed with me throught it and after i found out what was causing it and fixed it. It doesn't matter if he loves you. he wasn't worth it if he leaves unless you decided not to get help.

If I had bipolar disorder, I'd contact NAMI and learn all about it. I'd get on the proper medications to keep myself stable and THEN I'd tell my guy that I had this problem and what I was doing about it. I'd hope he'd be understanding and supportive. If not, I'd find another guy who would. Lots of guys have disorders, too.

Ask your mental help proffesional what they would do - they treat patients all day that have the same issues, worries, etc.

Me? I have dated people with disorders - I broke up with them because of thier actions - not their labels - but as I see it, do yourself a favor, and give them a chance to know you before you tell them something personal like that.

If my girlfriend had the "mood swing disorder", I would probably stay. If she had the "thrust a butcher knife toward my genitals disorder", I would leave.

Personally i he does change and treat you differently he's not worht your time. You could do so much better, and get someone that accepts you and your disorder.

Yes of course, why not? It's a challenge only for the most adept, however. Weigh this guy to see if he is.
