they would be in direct competition...for both to survive there must be a reason for it...either one will die out or both will expand out into other areas...such as cats and dogs in the wild...they are both meat eaters and will eat the other, but each's resilience and adaptability keeps the species alive

The one that adapts to it's environment the best, will survive, at one point in time, there were two types of man on Earth, Australopithecus died out because they only ate veggies, and could NOT adapt to it's environment, and died off, An Excellent display of "Darwinism" (only the strong shall survive, it's "Natural Selection"). Any organism that CANNOT adapt to it's environment, will soon become extinct, an arguable, proven fact !

this rarely ever happens in the wild, while animals will share similar traits they will rarely ever occupy the same niche, differing species have traits designed for specific habitats, foods, foraging strategies, etc. while organisms can occupy same areas, and may compete they more than likely will not occupy the same niche.

certain, if an ant and a frog both stay contained in the rainforest they don't have a similar area of interest. They devour numerous issues so that they have got different places contained in the food chain and they both make contributions in numerous approaches to our surroundings inspite of both residing on the rainforest floor.
