The question that you ask has troubled theologians for thousands of years We are getting into deep waters here so bear with me. The Christian God "eternally exists" in three distinct persons, but yet there is only one God.

What does it mean to exist eternally? Really that is a bit of a play on words. To exist implies that time is involved; To be eternal implies that a being is outside of time and space. We cannot really comprehend what that means. For the Christian we have a God that we call a Tri-unity or Trinity. Each of these persons is no greater or less than any other person, but each have different functiions and responsibilities. One of these persons is called the "Father". He is the creator of the universe including life. He is also the sustainer of life. Without God the Father you and I would die in a moment. Now this member of the Trinity controlls time and space and life with all its meanings from outside time. He cannot have been created because he is outside time. The Father is never inside time.

Right in the very first chapters of the Bible we see that man was created in the image of "God". It also says that God walked with and talked with man. The person of God that works directly with man is called God the "Son". This member of the Trinity is also uncreated, but because he works directly with man, he had to enter into time and space. This person of the Trinity was there at the beginning of time, and was the first thing to be "created". Unlike the "Father" the "Son" "lives in time and space.

One of the things that God the Father gave to man was free will. If man did not have this free will he would be less than human. At some point in time, man rebelled against God. (We could get into the role of satan etc., but that would be a digression). This was no suprise to the Trinity. In fact in the third chapter of the first book of the Bible the Trinity declares how this rebellion will be eventually crushed. God the Son was given the responsability to crush the rebellion. In order to do this he took on the very form and nature of man. He became limited by time and space. He did crush the power of that rebellion by his death and ressurection. God the Son is still working directly with man to help him overcome the effects of the human rebellion. His teachings show us how to do this. Just as He was the first "Created" so too he will be the last "Uncreated".

The third person of the Trinity is called God the Holy Spirit. His responsibility is somewhat less defined than the other two persons. His role is to convict man of his rebellion, and then to lead man to a place of forgiveness. He bridges time and space with eternity. He is in both. He too is uncreated.

Each of the three Persons takes on both specific tasks, and also takes on limitations. God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, for example do not have a physical body. Perhaps the Holy Spirit did not have need to be part of the physical creation. Possibly God the Son and the Holy Spirit do not need to have foreknowledge. I could go on, but I hope that you get the point that an all powerful and an all knowing God still has given man the power of free will.

Since the power of man's rebellion has been crushed, you must now use that free will that you were given to decide if you want the effects of that rebellion to remain within you. God the Son has crushed the rebellion, and God the Holy Spirit is at work in your life. You now have a choice. Do you want to be forgiven by God the Father and enjoy the freedom that gives or not. The Holy Spirit is wooing you to the Father, the Son has paved the way for you to get there, and the Father loves you and welcomes you with open arms. That is the essence of the Good News that Christians have experienced.

God bless

In 5:30 Jesus asserts His dependence on the Father. In Matthew 27:46 Jesus quotes Ps. 22 which opens with despair, but ends in triumph. Jesus is God.

Many religious people say that Jesus is God. Some claim that God is a Trinity. According to this teaching, “the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three Gods but one God.” It is held that the three “are co-eternal and co-equal.” (The Catholic Encyclopedia) Are such views correct?

Jehovah God is the Creator. (Revelation 4:11) He is without beginning or end, and he is almighty. (Psalm 90:2) Jesus, on the other hand, had a beginning. (Colossians 1:15, 16) Referring to God as his Father, Jesus said: “The Father is greater than I am.” (John 14:28) Jesus also explained that there were some things neither he nor the angels knew but that were known only by his Father.—Mark 13:32.

Moreover, Jesus prayed to his Father: “Let, not my will, but yours take place.” (Luke 22:42) To whom was Jesus praying if not to a superior Personage? Furthermore, it was God who resurrected Jesus from the dead, not Jesus himself. (Acts 2:32) Obviously, the Father and the Son were not equal before Jesus came to the earth or during his earthly life. What about after Jesus’ resurrection to heaven? First Corinthians 11:3 states: “The head of the Christ is God.” In fact, the Son will always be in subjection to God. (1 Corinthians 15:28) The Scriptures therefore show that Jesus is not God Almighty. Instead, he is God’s Son.

The so-called third person of the Trinity—the holy spirit—is not a person. Addressing God in prayer, the psalmist said: “If you send forth your spirit, they are created.” (Psalm 104:30) This spirit is not God himself; it is an active force that he sends forth or uses to accomplish whatever he wishes. By means of it, God created the physical heavens, the earth, and all living things. (Genesis 1:2; Psalm 33:6) God used his holy spirit to inspire the men who wrote the Bible. (2 Peter 1:20, 21) The Trinity, then, is not a Scriptural teaching. “Jehovah our God is one Jehovah,” says the Bible.—Deuteronomy 6:4.

Concerning John 10:30 -

The context in which Jesus’ words appear in the Biblical narrative reveal what he meant. A group of Jews had encircled him, demanding that he tell them outspokenly whether he was indeed the Christ. Answering them, Jesus stated: “I have told you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name are my witness; but you do not believe, because you are no sheep of mine. The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life; they will never be lost and no one will ever steal them from me. The Father who gave them to me is greater than anyone, and no one can steal from the Father. The Father and I are one.”—John 10:25-30, Jerusalem Bible.

ONENESS NOT EQUALITY

Clearly Jesus Christ was not claiming to be his Father’s equal. He himself stated that he acted, not in his own name, but in the ‘name of his Father.’ He recognized his Father’s superior position and authority, acknowledging that the “sheep” had been given to him by his Father. He pointedly said that ‘the Father is greater than anyone.’ At the same time the Father and the Son are “one” in purpose respecting the salvation of the “sheep.” That is, both are equally concerned about the “sheep,” not allowing anyone to snatch them out of their hand.

The san hedrian ask the same question.that is why they crucified him. the "I am " was how God reveled Himself to Moses.

Jesus said to those asking this question /Before Abraham was "I Am." John 8 -58. people don"t get offended if you say God
But try using Jesus Christ name people .are offended or mad
Jesus was A body the Blood to offer once and for all men
who believe most don"t.

Jesus had to live and overcome temptation as a "man"/He had
to suffer as Man.Adam had failed/therefore at the Cross He
had to suffer.as man.He called out to God when He became
Sacrifice/ He had no begining and no end. If He had used the
Power as God/which He Wasand is.Then how would His Dying
Purchase back Man. God has given man the unique postion
over everything on Earth. The Arch Enemy of God also uses "man to do his Evel work/ Jesus Christ is soon to return to this Earth and Rule with Rod of Iron/ from Temple Mount

John 1:1 says that in the begining was the word and it was God. That speaks of Jesus. Matthew 27:46-on the cross, Jesus was asking God the father why He had forsaken him, because God the father turned his back on Jesus Christ because he put your sin on Christ. John 5:30-Jesus is saying that he cannot do anything unless God the father prompts Him to do it. He is asserting that his teaching came from God. Jesus also stated, "I and the Father are one." this means that Jesus and God are one.

Read the Gospel of John. The Word( Jesus) was with God,and the Word(Jesus)was God.Cannot dispute that. The Bible says it tons of times Jesus is the visible image of God. Ok- you have an egg shell, and egg white and an egg yolk. What are all three parts? You got it an egg! The all came from an egg, just because you seperate them, does not mean they are not an egg.God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, all God, in seperate parts-The GodHead. Look in the index of your bible under GodHead.

When Jesus says that "My father is greater than I", Jesus was referring to his human nature. The same with Matthew 27:46. Jesus also said that, "The Father and I are one".

As David T said read John 1:1and vse 14. The very reason He was about to be stoned by the Jews was for what He claimed"I and my Father are one" he was being charged with blasphemy for claiming to be God.

some churches put jesus first and foremost, some put mary in a similar position and seem to forget about jesus or his father. some don't believe in jesus at all and just believe in the father and some believe that jesus was not at all god, but that god or the messiah is yet to arrive. some think allah is god and muhammed was the prophet. some, like me, are not convinced of any of this stuff.

You haven't read very far. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS GOD. The same was in the beginning with God. ALL THINGS WERE MADE by Him, and apart from Him was nothing made that was made" (John 1:1,2). I could cite many, many more passages, but I'm sure others will see to that.
