Go to your local Department of Social Services and fill out an application for Medicaid. If you are unemployed, you and /or your family may be entitled to medical benefits. Some states have programs where they offer children medical benefits at a reduced rate, for example, Blue Cross for 5.00/month to qualified applicants. If you are currently under a doctor's care and require medication that you are unable to afford, many of the pharmaceutical companies offer assistance. If you have a serious ongoing medical condition, be sure to state it in your application.

Medicaid for now. You do not say why you are unemployed and many employers provide low premium health insurance

Do it yourself. Depending on what country you live in there might be a program for people who can't afford medical care.

If you are a veteran go there for help. If not insurance is very expensive. You may get some help from the welfare program.
