Balut in the Philippines. its boiled duck egg, when you break the egg open, you could see the under developed hatchling. Its very tasty, once you've gotten over the grossness. and they say its a very poyent aphrodisiac.

When I was 11, I took a family vacation to Hawaii... At the luau we had "poi"... that was the most discusting nasty stuff id ever have eaten (up to present).. The only way I can describe it is its a brown chocolate colored paste served in a little finger dish that you are supposed to dip up with your fingers and eat.. It tastes like it looks creamy brown "dirt"... it has a dusty taste.. I think its made from some sort of root that grows there.. I dont know, but its nasty stuff..

I'm gonna cheat. I didn't eat it because I was getting a bit jaded at the time. I consider it the true measure of decadence when you look at the menu and see whale steak and think, "Nah...I feel like having chicken tonight."

I've had lutefisk a few times, though. It's best described as jellied cod. It's also best avoided by the average person, although I liked it.

Escargot...snails served in the shell eaten w/ a toothpick sauteed in a sort of olive oil/butter and garlic...tastes great...feels like eating a snail though...wouldn't eat it again....one dish that is cool is calamari...its lightly breaded sauteed baby squid rings...simply killer if done right...also I had a chicken liver at a Benihanna of Tokyo restaurant...he sauteed it fast and melted in your mouth like butter...I've never been able to reproduce that for some reason heh...bon appetite'!

I haven't eaten any weird foods, just weird combinations. Like peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, cheezits in ketchup or hummus (chick pea dip, it's actually really good), pretzles in mustard, stuff like that. I've also eaten apples in mustard before, nothing like squid or something.

I grew up on a farm in Nebraska and we raised beef cattle. We also slaughtered a cow or two a year to provide meat for our families. One delicacy we had available to us that many city-dwellers don't is beef heart and beef tongue. Yum.

Well some might consider SCRAPPLE to be weird if they really knew what was in it.

"Scrapple may contain pork skin, pork heart, pork liver, pork tongue - even pork brains. Those faint of palate needn't venture any further"
