This is so, because, The god of this system of things is Satan the devil(2Corinthians4:4 and he is blinding the minds of people to not believe or see the truth and follow him and his way rather than listen to the true God Jehovah this is because Satan has inspired many religions so that if he doesn't get you with one he will with another and in this way he has camouflaged the true religion that is inspired by the true God Jehovah!

Religions started in separate parts of the world. The religions of the Far Eastern Cultures started in isolation:Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism as well some others. The history of the Jewish faith you can trace from the Bible. Over the years even the Jewish religion splintered so you have Orthodox forms of it as well as reformed. With the coming of Jesus, Christianity began. The Catholic Church had a schism and thus a second Catholic Church came into being. Then we had the Protestant Reformation which developed because Martin Luther disagreed with the church doctrine. Then more splits began amongst the Protestants again due to dogma and hence many Protestants splintered into many groups. Various people claimed that God spoke to them personally and commanded them to "follow a different path" So they did and were able to attract followers. Examples of this are the Mormons and Islam So as a consequence we have many religions in the world. Religions are constantly emerging. Some die out and some remain for thousands of years. It appears that as religions die out they eventually are seen as myth or are incorporated into a new religion. An example of the latter would be the fact that the flood mentioned in the Bible can be found in ancient writing.

Every ancient people developed a mythos to explain how the world came into being, and how humans (usually just them, their tribe) came into being. This is the foundation for any religion except perhaps Buddhism, which doesn't address first causes. This mythos tended to become more elaborate, with explanations for why animals behave they way they do, why crops die off, why the seasons change, and so on. They tend also to have rituals associated with them that are an attempt to control the physical environment of the people, and rules that support social cohesion.
The self-story of each people is based largely in their physical environment and their social structure. Each of these is different.
That's why there are so many religions, in a nutshell.

Becuase it is human nature to want a structure to the worship of the divine and there are many different cultures and ways of thinking of the divine and, therefore, many religions to fulfill the needs of each individual. In a way, there are as many religions as there are people on the earth, for every person who has ever been, is and ever will be born views Diety in a slightly different way.

It is like this do you have a brother, sister or a friend that you disagree with on somethings, well the church is the same way somebody disagreed and turned around and started their own church, that is why we have so many different religions out there today we just can't seem to be able to work together instead we just give up and go our own way.

In each region, as man developed, he organized his religion to understand the unknown and to have a compulsive code of conduct for the society in general ... naturally there came about many religions cos there were many regions in which man developed without communication between any two regions.

The answer is in this question:
Why are there so many selfish egotistical religious leaders and religious empires who have used philosophical differences in order to separate their religion or denomination from the others in order to start their own empire in the name of God but for the Glory of the religious leader. The pope and all his pomp and ceremony probably makes God want to vomit.
Just think of the Pope and his crown and his satin robes and his servants, and all those who kiss his ring and call him your eminence, oh holy one, oh perfect one.

Because of geographic distribution. Each religion develops in relative isolation of the others.

I do not know. I do not agree with mass religion. I think it is hypocritical and it causes to much confusion, false teachings by men. I am with God, He guides me. Everyone else can have their named religion. Going to church will NOT save anyone!

Perhaps because there are so many ways to worship. There are many different cultures around the world with different histories and various worldviews. It is only natural to have different beliefs and ways to worship deities.
Perhaps it is because there are so many different deities to worship.
