I hate being cocky or arrogant. However, there is this sweet girl that I like and who likes me. I asked her out once, and she said not yet. I was about to ask her out again, but a good looking guy has become close to her. The problem I have is not his looks though...its his *********, which makes him very popular with the ladies. For example, I complimented the girl on her jacket, and he was nearby and said "I gave it to her" when I know he didn't. The girl loved his response. He has said a number of such "lies" to sound cocky and I can tell that this girl (and a lot of others) love it -- he is popular with the ladies, but all the guys who know him dislike him. He plays on women's insecurities too, and than ditches them.
I felt like cursing him when he did these things -- and I am stronger than him. However, I have never been cocky in that way, and never put down other guys if I am interested in a woman.
I don't know how to respond to this. And I know he will hurt her too.

Dude that girl sounds like a bubble brain. You seem liek a good guy. Go and find yourself a real woman. If any girl is stupid enough to fall for a jackass like that guy then dont waste ur time with her. Girls like that area dime a dozen and end up being divorced with 2.5 kids lol
