We fight for many different reasons. Some are to defend ourselves most are for money and power. I really do not believe in Iraq but we have entered into Pandora's Box if we were to leave we will set up the perfect terrorist training grounds and the world will really be in trouble. The fact is sometimes our mistakes are not easy to solve. This is why we should think before we act. But there have been many wars that were justified just not in our life time. The Revolutionary War, WWI, WWII, I would add the Civil War but the truth is that it was not about slavery, Slavery only truly became Lincoln's goal when he feared England may join in with the Confederates. A good thing came of it though the US was not divided and slavery was abolished.
There is no one answer for all wars. Every war is different and has different reasons. Like Afghanistan we had every right to strike back after 9/11. Vietnam , I truly do not know, The Indian Wars were complete out of greed, WWI & II were to save the world as we knew it.
We are in Iraq right now because of revenge and greed. Saddam was not as big of a treat as N.Korea, Iran,Bin Laden.
I have never seen Why We Fight but we must realize that peace has a price, because not everyone believes in peace as we know it.

I have to wonder the same thing, while SOME wars maybe for a very good cause.. Some are not.
Why do we fight in wars or fight wars in general? Because for political gains, or to protect those we love by destorying those that threaten us.. Those include people who have different views from us that desire to kill us instead of join or reason with words or sometimes innocent people who die fighting or protection those words or family/friends.
The human race has always been in wars, wars are just bigger homicide, the first murder started when a man picked up a rock to kill another man, greed, the want, the need, the protection, etc etc all cause us to kill another, and wars are just groups murdering other groups instead of one murdering one.
Why are we Americans in this war? Who knows, the mission has never been stated clearly. Some people think its for the oil, to solve the oil problem, and bring buisness back alive again. Some people say it's the Bush family making up or keeping up promises made from their family and such. Others say it's to keep punish or kill or what ever the terrorist that caused 9/11 or will further cause things like 9/11... Maybe we're fighting for another countries freedom, the French fought or help some of ours, we should do the same? There are thousand reasons you can think of, and you'll never you what is right and what is wrong until you go into the top and ask clearly and hope for the truth.
Is it freedom/power/peace/revenge.. Everyone has their own reasons for joining this war, or fighting for it.. Some people think terrorism is a treat to freedom, some people think we bring peace or freedom to others, others have families who died in the trade center or children or husbands or wives and wants revenge, or those that died in the war...

I don't care about the 10 points.
The reason we're over there fighting an expensive war is to avoid the casualties of fighting a domestic war on our own soil. This war is keeping the citizens from being targets - it takes the fighting to where it originated - the middle east - and those that like to fight are willing to come out against our troops and fight on their own soil.

I feel the same way you feel .. WHY ?
I think that we the American People got lied in our own faces, I think that we lost track of where we were supposed to go with this, I think that we are all confused in a mess that started with a right to fight for what we stand for and ended knowing that we were all told lies about why have the war and finished, with our present situation, not knowing what the heck to do, because know in are in a bigger mess every day and need to find our way out but not know how to do it.

Wars are fought for 2 basic reasons.
Ideology (Political, religious)
Territory (Control of resources and land)
The war in Iraq falls under both categories actually. We seek to bring freedom and Democracy to the region, but in doing so we also hope to stabilize a large oil rich area. Our ultimate goal would be to ensure that the oil keeps flowing, but it cannot be denied that a strong Democracy in the Middle East would be good for any future endeavors we hope to accomplish in the region.

We fight wars for different reasons. Firstly, to defend our country and its citizens. Sometimes we fight on foreign soil to keep attention overseas and away from USA. Other times we fight over natural resources. We may also have war to coerce other countries to our way. The reasons are probably endless.

in no way cheer on fights, I recommend if its a slapping activity to work out who can cope with the main slaps, thats different. combating is relatively risky and would effect in a homicide case.

We were attacked. We are now exercising our right to counter attack.
Any place we feel fit to do so.
Guess what, the newly elected democrats (once briefed) will also stay the course (despite any coward like Kerry trying to twist them the other way).
