i will try to be brief:
SUNFLOWERS ARE AVAILABLE AND COME IN FULL AND MINIS
FLOWER CHOICES ARE PERSONAL AND DONT FEEL YOU NEED TO FOLLOW A SEASON OR IF ITS CORRECT. CHOOSE IT BECAUSE YOU LIKE THEM.
ROSES ARE NOT AS EXPENSIVE AS YOU THINK THEY ARE. ROSES ARE A MID PRICED FLOWER THAT IS AVAILABLE IN SOOO MANY COLORS AND HOLDS UP WELL.
IF YOU USE SUNFLOWERS, USE MINIS IN BOUQUETS AND ONLY USE THE LARGE ONES FOR ALTAR PEICES AND LARGE RECEPTION TABLE PIECES.
AFFORDABLE DEPENDS ON THE SIZE OF THE BOUQUET ALSO NOT JUST THE FLOWERS.
WHAT ARE YOUR COLORS? DO YOU HAVE A THEME? THINK ABOUT IT, LOOK FOR PICS YOU LIKE THAN MEET WITH A FEW OF YOUR LOCAL FLORISTS THAT DO NOT CHARGE A CONSULT FEE. GOOD LUCK

I just got married on September 9 and I think sunflowers would be great. I used Pink Tiger Lillies. They were inexpensive and so are sunflowers. You can go to the library and find books that will tell you what flowers are appropriate for that season. Have you ever considered silk flowers. They look just as real and are a little less inexpensive?

Sounds gorgeous, and I cannot think of a more appropriate or beautiful flower for an August wedding.
I got married the first week of July and one of the mothers had a mini-sunflower bouquet, so I'm sure they're in season in August. Another mom had mini-gerberas and those were gorgeous as well. They're like colored sunflowers!

Sunflowers sound fine to me.
There are several species of sunflowers and come in all sizes.
August is a perfect month for them because thats when they are in full bloom.
You might have to special order them, which could be a little costly.
But another suggestion would be to buy 'silk' sunflowers, you can get them at any craft or home and garden place.
Most of them look so real you can't tell the difference.
And of course, the silk ones would last a lifetime.
Hope this has helped..

If you really like sunflowers put them in your wedding scheme! After all sunflowers are the biggest and tallest flowers in the garden. They seem to watch over the little ones!

Yes sunflowers can work in August - though I wanted to point out that next to carnations, roses are one of the cheapest options pretty much any time of year.

Sunflowers are in season in August. If you want to do the whole wedding in sunflowers, go for it! I would recommend going through a wholesaler like Costco. Order TONS of them- they're very cheap and you can bunch them yourself with pretty ribbons for your bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquets. They are also very easy to make into centerpieces. 2 different friends of mine used Costco for their flowers (one did all gerber daisies and one did all roses) and they were incredible quality.
If you stick with just one type of flower and do it yourself, you can have hundreds of sunflowers for very cheap! And it will look stunning!
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!

Sunflowers are beautiful and most definitely in season. They're also really easy to grow on your own if you are on a budget.
