Symptoms usually begin with a high fever, lethargy, depression, and loss of appetite. Secondary symptoms appear as severe gastrointestinal distress, such as vomiting and bloody diarrhea. In many cases, dehydration, shock, and death follow.

Parvovirus is characterized by severe, bloody diarrhea and vomiting, high fever and lethargy. The diarrhea is particularly foul smelling and is sometimes yellow in color. Parvo can also attack a dog's heart causing congestive heart failure. This complication can occur months or years after an apparent recovery from the intestinal form of the disease. Puppies who survive parvo infection usually remain somewhat un-healthy and weak for life.

Parvo virus usually last 3-5 days, It is very hard for a dog to survive without medical treatment, even with they can still die. Usually you will see vomitting, bloody diarrhea, lethargy, fever, inappatence, for anyone who works in a clinic knows I mean when i say parvo has this smell, I can always tell when a dog comes into our hospital that has parvo because of the smell. If you think your dog has parvo please take it to the vet asap, keep all other dogs out of your house and yard, unless they are fully vaccinated, for 2 years, the virus can live in the enviroment for a long time. Make sure your vet gives the dog fentayl for pain control.

I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but I'm going to add a link to a website that offers ParvoGuard.

It can ship overnight, and my best friend's dog had Parvo and it cleaned up in about a week - the dog started eating with in a week. He swears by it. So I'm just going to hope that no-one flags this for an advertisement. If you don't believe me, look at some of the feedback I've left for people who spam the web.

Good luck with your dog. If you can get a vet appointment tomorrow instead, go for it. If they say that there's not much he can do, at least try the Parvoguard. It has a money back guarantee.

The other symptom is death. If he won't eat/drink and has the above symptoms get him to a Vet. It may not be Parvo, but he can die from dehydration. I've had over 8 litters of parvo pups from shelters and almost all survived with the right care, but they won't (usually) if you do nothing.

The stool has a distinctive sickening smell that you probably have never smelled before, otherwise you would recognize it.
But the only sure diagnosis is a lab test at the vet. If you take the dog to the vet, be sure to let them know you are coming. They don't want to expose other dogs to possible parvo.
If the dog dies, don't bury it at home because parvo can stay in the soil for years. Let the vet take care of it.

That is mainly it. They go downhill so fast. The poop will have a very strong offensive odor. The pups will get dehydrated quickly from all the vomiting and diarrhea. They will not be able to hold anything down, neither food nor water. I hope your dog, dogs do not have it!
