I don't know that it would simply because they always advertise it as being very good for dry, cracked hands, and refer to it as a moisturizer. You could try it though.

why would you want to use detergent on your face? Especially with fragrance oil, artificial color, and a load of synthetic chemicals.
Actually, using harsh cleansers on oily skin will make it oilier. Your body reacts to the dryness and produces more oil.
Wash gently with a natural soap and cool water. Hot water also produces more oil.
Use an astringent toner and a light face lotion that will help control oil. There's plenty out there.
good luck.

It will make it worse. Try "Kiss My Face" olive oil soap. It has a different chemical makeup than the usual soaps on the market today. Most of them give me oily skin and breaks me out in rashes. My dermatologist says you can "overstimulate" your oil glands by trying too hard to get rid of oily skin and just make it worse.

It will remove oil. If you are trying to go from oily to normal skin Do Not use Dawn. It will backfire. Overdrying your skin will kick up the prodution of sebum (you skins oil) making you even oilier.

Wash your face frequently with cold water and use a face pack of grated apple. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for oily skin at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/oilyskin.html .

YIKES!!!
Please don't do that...it is going to strip your skin dry. Best solution for oily skin (which I have too)....wash your face at least twice a day....more if you exercise alot - every two days use a scrub/exfoliate.....use a toner every time you wash ....then use a oil free moisturizer to complete your regime. If you dry out your skin ...it only makes you break out...and makes your skin do double time and get oily again.
Dawn is great for dishes...not your face!!!

yes, but you may do better with a medicinal product because the colours and fragrances may interact with you.
but to answer your question, yes, the soap product in Dawn(R) will cut grease and even petroleum products on birds that get oiled
