Get a book specifically for that, or take it to a tranny specialist, that you'd trust.

you can buy a good shape low miles transmission from a yard ofr a few hundred bucks,

these chrysler truck auto trannies last right about exactly as long as the GM truck ones, around 130 to 140k miles in normal service life

you can find good usedones with under 100k for a good deal, in which is really a good way to go, unless you have a real good buddy who works at a tranny shop or unless oyure very mechnically inclined and have transmission tools and everything

automatic transmissions are one thing i never got into, we always just replace them the last dodge truck one we replaced was in a 94 ram 150 2wd we got one out of a 98 ram 250 van with 30k miles on it and put it in, and its good as new, i think it was 600 bucks

the lkast gm one we did was in a 97 c1500 ext cab 2wd and it was 995 bucks to have it rebuilt, as they said the 97 ext cab tranny wasa one year one model only tranny, one of a kind, we couldnt find a good used one

it had 130k on it, and the shop said it was severely worn out, and this was a 50 some year old guy who drives responsibly and doesnt pull a trailer or haul anything

so...

good luck

samantha/josh, lol unfortunately thats how the 90s transmissions are every year or two the electronics and solenoids circuits were modified GM and some others did this too, since 1994 its a real PITA have to deal with it all the time when replacing trannies for ppl

it's tricky if you're not mechanical incline type of person don't even try it rebuilding transmissions it' not just replacing parts you need to know what caused you transmission to go bad in the first
place and fix that problem also you need to know how a transmission work i'm not tryng to discourage you i'm just telling you what you need to know before you take that transmission apart.good luck!

the dodge tranny is one of the simplest to rebuild...however to describe in detail on here is next to impossible...get a manual or take it to some one who knows how.
