Hi, I am sorry and know how you feel! I have suffered panic attacks for 12 years! There should be a number that's listed if you go onto the Internet and type panic helpline for your area you will get it, if you are diagnosed then you should discuss what you can take for them, I have xanax which I take if I feel one coming on and it makes me feel much more at ease just knowing I have them, I have fought extremely hard to work with one when I get it, and it's not easy but I keep trying, if you have one can you call a friend do you live with someone?? is there someone close you have told that you could call when an attack happens? Lie down take in deep breaths put on a fan it helps me as I get very hot when I have one. I wish I could help more! please do get something from the doctor it's a great comfort. Take care

I found this phone number on a website:
National Institute of Mental Health's Anxiety Hotline-1-888-826-9438. I have had panic attacks for 4-5 years and must admit they were the scariest things ever happening me.
Also I found this"The National Institute of Mental Health has established a national hotline for people who have panic disorder as well as for health care professionals who treat them. The hotline number is 1-800-64-PANIC."
Hope it helps!

Hi there, I just laugh about my past 3 years of panic now. I was not able to go anywhere without carrying xanax. Fear of having another attack was the most important subject of my days. When i first found joe barry's web site i started to cry because of my happiness.

Do you have a councilor? Perhaps you could ask him/her for a local resource? Is there a phone number listed in the local phone book? Perhaps under suicide prevention? Even if that isn't the problem, they might be willing to talk to you for a while, 'til the attack passes. I know relatives and friends tend to get 'tapped out' if your attacks are frequent. Even people who love you can be emotionally unavailable...or just unable to handle the stress themselves. All best wishes.

I wouldn't trust a phone call..what if you are too panicky to get to the phone? Have you ever tried to pull yourself out of it? I used to repeat a goofy nursery rhyme (ok, I still do)...the rhyme sounds like MAREZEEDOTSEEDOZEEDOZNLIDDLELAM
SEEDIVEY. (it goes with a sing song)
The real rhyme is Mares eat oats and Does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy...I found that enunciating that correctly pulled me out of an attack everytime.
Good Luck
