MY HANDS ARE LIKE THAT TOO. WHEN I USE THE COMPUTER THEY REALLY GET COLD OR WHEN I READ A BOOK. AS LONG AS I KEEP MOVING THEM THEY'RE OK. JUST PART OF GROWING UP.

Do your hands and fingers change colors when they are cold? There is a condition called Raynauds in which the circulation to the extremities (hands/fingers/feet/toes) constricts and they become quite cold, numb, and colorless for a while. As the circulation returns, the fingers turn blue and then red. It is like when you make snowballs without any gloves on, you get a warm-hot sensation in your hands once the feeling returns. Raynauds can be idiopathic (no known cause) or symptomatic of something more serious in nature. The latter is determined by a blood test for autoimmune issues. Anyway, gloves are a must and you can buy hand warmers and feet warmers (battery operated or disposable) at most good sporting goods stores. Exercise will pump the blood back into your extremities and lotion will keep the skin in better condition when the blood isn't paying enough attention to those areas. Good luck!

Cold hands are a sign of an overactive autonomic nervous system. More specifically, the signs of an overactive sympathetic nervous system. Our emotional and physiological self are controlled by the autonomic nervous system - a system that increases and decreases our heart rate, breathing rate, etc. One group of nerves "speeds" us up and one group of nerves "slows" us down. These groups are known as the sympathetic nerves and parasympathetic nerves. When the sympathetic nerves are fired (stimulated) the heart rate increases and blood is shunted from our hands, feet, and abdomen to our large muscle groups such as thighs and hips. Many muscles tense during this stimulation. This is a primitive reflex response which prepares us to flee from a threatening situation. (remember in high school biology the fight or flight response?) The parasympathetics, when stimulated, slows the heart rate down, causing rest, relaxation, and eventually sleep. During parasympathetic stimulation blood flows throughout the body and into the abdomenal organs (to help digestion, etc).

Do you smoke? Smoking can cause poor circulation, which can make your hands feel cold all the time, or at least thats what my doctor told me. If not then it woud still be poor circulation but just for other reasons.

my hands are like yours. you need physical activities for 30 mins every day. i guess its because of poor blood circulation.
