I used msconfig on my xp machine to bootup in safe mode to delete some trojans.
so when i boot the computer back up in safe mode, i try to log on but windows wont let me b/c it says i need to activate windows. It also tells me to do this i must do it in normal windows, so i must reboot to normal windows.
well i cant boot up to normal windows b/c everytime it boots safemode. i tried f8 or f12 to boot windows normally still didnt work.

This is really quite odd. Especially being that you have tired f8 and f12 and you are still stuck in safe mode.
Have one suggestion that just may work for you. Pull all the cables from your laptop or desk top and then reconnect them and turn your desktop or laptop back on and then see if the system will load windows will give you a normal bootup outside of the safe mode.
If it works you may have to reset the clock/year in the tray so that your time is exact as possible to your ISP.

Retrace your steps. I don't know what you mean by 'rewrote mbr', doesn't sound good (unwrote it). 'Safe Mode' should let you change back to normal with 'msconfig'. Try the 'scanreg/fix' from DOS prompt. If all else fails, do an overlay of your operating system disk.......put your disk in and follow directions, all your files and settings will not change.
Go to>Start
>Shut Down
>Restart in MS-DOS mode
>at the Dos prompt, type in "scanreg/fix" (without quotes)
>hit enter
This will take awhile
>when its finished, hit enter
>at the Dos prompt, type in "scanreg/opt" (without quotes)
This may or may not take awhile. The only clue that anything is happening will be the blinking light for your hard drive. This function will optimize (or defrag) your registry, if it needs it. If your registry does not need 'opt', it will return to does prompt quickly.
>at the Dos prompt, type in "exit" (without quotes)
>hit enter, it will return to Windows.
Go to>Start
>Shut Down
>Restart
Always restart after fixing and optimizing, else you will not have some functions, like sound, etc..

If you have recovery CD which came along with the machine to repair windows or use the windows CD and boot the machine and use the repair mode to re-write the system files.

reset the cmos, pull out the cmoc battery and pull out the cmos jumpers, they are beside the place the flexibility button, reset button, led's, and speaker in case you have a speaker. only pull those out and the cmos battery for 30 seconds, yet UNPLUG the flexibility out of your laptop and uplug the flexibility furnish ATX +4 twine and the 20/20+4 pin considerable twine from the motherboard because of the fact there are 300v 470 micro farad capacitors in a ability furnish so in case you floor something they wont circulate off because of the fact they arent grounded. a capacitor is a battery that empties itself very at as quickly as.
