Why not just have coffee shops ? Easier. Pubs don't sell drugs and coffee shops don't sell alcohol.

NO! I don't think publicans should be allowed to sell any drugs. Isn't it bad enough that drug pushers are selling drug to school children out side schools, let alone selling drugs in a public house.
They already have there hands full trying to sell and keep the customer happy. And any way isn't drink a kind of drug to some, like alcoholics, and the 18 to 25 year old who think that getting rat faced every weekend is cool! when in fact they are slowly killing them selves. Don't get me wrong I like a beer just like the next man but in moderation.

We spend so much time trying to ensure that our pubs are safe for adults and children to enjoy their time in our venues, why would we then cater for the ones who we try to get rid of every weekend?

The four licensing objectives are:
Protection of children from harm,
Prevention of crime and disorder,
Prevention of public nuisance
Public safety....

With these in mind how would selling drugs on our premises promote these licensing objectives as publicans we are supposed to do?

Alcohol is a drug of sorts and it is hard enough for us publicans to ensure the safe retailing with the young binge drinking culture of today all around us but with strict rules, fines and careful campaigns (like challenge 21) in place we are on our way to winning the battle.

If we were, as you suggest, to allow the retail of drugs on premises as well all hell would break loose and change the industry altogether!

Do you not think we have enough rules and regulations to follow?!!

It happens anyway!we should do what they do in Amsterdam, coffee shops for coffee and soft drugs and pubs for alcohol after all they are all types of drugs, the laws that be will never stamp out drugs so they might as well make buying them safer and not make you feel like a criminal!

Don't people deal drugs and stuff anyway in pubs? Besides whenever something is legalised other things and other means become the current thing to blackmarket/sell, etc.
