they pay all 4 years of college if you sign up for montgomery GI bill. that costs 100.00 per month from your base pay for a year. it is voluntary. do it. its a good investment. they do not shave the women's heads. women can keep their hair as long as they want as long as its pulled up so that it doesnt hang below the uniform collar.
a tip: before you ship out, go get your hair cut kinda short but not dyke short. youll need all the time you can get to get dressed in the morning. the female TIs are meaner than the men.

better than the navy: you dont go to sea. ships quarters are cramped.
not as good as the navy: USAF is cutting people like a track coach at a school full of fat kids.

Sweetie, you need to talk to a recruiter. But to answer your questions as an AF Spouse:

College - they AF will pay 100% of your tuition for classes you take while on active duty. You also have the option to sign up for the GI Bill. This costs you $100/month for twelve months and gives you money for college after you get out of the service. I believe the benefit is around $900/month for full time students.

Haircuts: No women do not shave their heads. Neither do the men, unless they so desire. There are regulations, so you would have to have your hair tied up while in uniform if it is long.

Better than Navy? I don't think so, but this is purely my opinion. It all depends on what your career goals and needs are. I'd go Air Force...they have the most career options for women than any other branch.

College is paid for, get the GI bill. Hope you have time to go once you're in though. You have to make time for it, military tasks come first obviously.
They won't shave your head. They want you to have a professional appearance.
I think the Air Force is more women friendly. You can learn more jobs that you can use as a civilian later in the Air Force, that's my opinion.
I was torn between the Navy and Air Force once too and I chose Air Force. It was a lot of fun. I visited some of the Navy ships while I was in Japan (with my husband), and they slept practically on top of each other. Was even happier with my decision after that. All through my training, every Navy person I met was rude and obnoxious. The Marines acted more like gentlemen if that says anything. Up to you though. Good luck!

I've been retired from the Air Force for 9 years now. I spent the last 10 years as an AF Recruiter. I can't recall that a 6 year enlistment option was available for everyone. There are certain career fields that will require quite a bit of training and the AF will try to recoop the money spent on that training with you working for them for a 6 year period or enlistment. With the war going on, the AF might have stepped up their incentive programs to include offering 6 yr enlistment to more career fields and offering more $ bonuses. With that option, the only thing it would give you is additional rank which equates to $. In a report that I have just read: Historical data and trends indicate 6-year enlistees have a higher propensity to reenlist upon completion of their initial term of enlistment. That said, the AF could be using the 6 yr enlistment to further increase it's already high retention rates.

Not everyone in the Navy has to serve on a ship. (That would be me...I'm in the Full Time Support program and there aren't very many sea billets). I've been on shore duty for 9 years.

The Navy pays Tuition Assistance while on Active Duty, which will pay so much money per credit hour of school (Undergraduates included, as long as the school is within the monetary range).

Only men have their heads shaved in Navy bootcamp (for hygene and uniformity). Women have their hair cut shoulder length if not there already. (again for hygene and uniformity).

The Air Force isn't bad. They have been referred to as "Civilians in Blue Suits".

My son has been in the air force for almost 10 years .He went in right after he graduated. He is making a career out of it and YES they paid for ALL his college. He has his MASTER's degree and has graduated from college with an Industrial engineering degree!! He will be able to retire at age 40 because he will keep receiving benefits from the air force plus he has his degree to fall back on for extra income.GOOD LUCK!!!& they do NOT shave the women's heads!!

Air Force gives free college education,
Hair is cut appropriately and not being shaved,
Air Force is better than the Navy because it is more exciting.

Yes they will pay for all 4 years,, but you will have enough to do with 5 level test, 7 level test, tests for rank, etc, etc that you will find it very difficult to take advantage of it during your first enlistment.
The AF does have a hair code that you will have to follow, but no they will not shave your head.

Better than the Navy is semantics, sure is nice that we were not all born the same.

college--depends on your field and comittment-ask recruiter and get his answer in writing befoe you enlist
No they don't shave women's head--
I think it is better than Navy--no extended sea duty, better training for jobs that are also good in civilian market, not as uptight as Navy re discipline. But the Navy is good too so it depends on what you want.
