I tried to look for recipes on the web and "how to cook" questions on Yahoo! answers, but they seem quite perplex. For some reason, I feel reluctant to cook and just need a nice simple start. So any suggestions?

I think you'll find this site extremely helpful. It will explain in detail everything from how to choose produce to how to chop onion. They have several "lessons" followed by a final exam. Once you understand the basics you'll find recipes much easier to follow.

When you decide to actually start doing some real cooking try to select recipes you have eaten and are familiar with. Because you know what they should look like you'll find them easier to produce. You might also want to check out Barnes and Noble, browsing through the cookbook section. They have numerous cookbooks that require very few ingredients as well as one I noticed that is for people who really don't know anything about cooking. You might even drop a hint or two for Santa!

Here's the site I mentioned....

I hate her, but Rachael Ray gives the basics and Alton Brown is awesome for the tech skills.
