I personally don't think there's any reason to make fun of them. I'm American, so I guess we don't SEE any reason.
Maybe it's because Leornardo DiCaprio played an Irishman in "Titanic" and didn't have an accent, I dunno...

This may have been somewhat true at one stage due to the 800 year oppression of the Irish people by the British. However, since Ireland has become free from British rule they have become a very successful little country.
Even in Ireland there are jokes made about the people from Kerry because the other counties see Kerry as a bit backwards. But it's only a joke, they aren't that backward! ;)
Being irish myself I don't mind hearing Jokes about Irish people, because I know how cool Ireland really is.

Because the Irish people have the reputation of doing things back to front! I dont know if this is true-I'm sure it's a generalisation! I love Irish folk. I do think the sense of humour and turn of phrase is the funniest in the world and I just love the accent soooo much!! Oh, and the country is pretty beautiful too!

i dont really know dosent happen so much in this politically correct world it was only a laugh but dosent happen any more,but did it really do any harm the irish freinds i knew loved it. its called banter ./.
