We are going to Italy soon and bought our tickets through Travelocity. The return flight starts with a commuter flight from Rome to Amsterdam. We have an overnight layover in Amsterdam, but we aren't arriving in Amsterdam until 11:30p.m. We would prefer and earlier flight from Rome if we can get one. Does anybody know if airlines will consider that? If so how do we go about asking for it? Do we contact Travelocity, the airline directly, or do we just show up early to the airport and see if an earlier flight has openings?

Contact the airline directly. Travelocity can't really speak with authority as to arilines' standby policies. But most airlines do allow you to report to the airport and try and catch an earlier flight. If there is a difference in fares where the flight you want to take costs more than the flight you're already on, you'll have to pay that, but most airlines don't charge other fees for standby switches, only the fare differential.

When you book with Travelocity, they don't usually tell you that their tickets are heavily restricted, and that the restrictions may vary from flight to flight. So you might have purchased a ticket that you can't trade in for an earlier flight. Just be prepared for that possibility.

Contact Travelocity and they'll tell you what to do. If it's not at the absolute last minute, then switching to a different flight shouldn't be too hard; people do it all the time. It might cost a little, though.

It depends on the type of ticket you bought. If it isn't a flexible one then you are pretty much stuck but it's worth double checking with both the airline and the booking agent - might cost you to change it though or else take a gamble and try at the desk on the day.

i ought to call the airline earlier you go away for the airport and observe in the experience that they have got any open seats on earlier flights, in case you head there now, and they don't, you'll finally end up with an particularly lengthy wait on the airport. certain, it may cost your funds, how a lot i do not comprehend.
