Yes! You might want to choose sturdy cookies (like cut-outs or sugar cookies or gingersnaps). If you're making more than one kind, freeze them in separate bags so the flavors dont mix. I will sometimes bake them, freeze them, defrost, then frost and decorate them! Saves time and leaves the fun parts for when other people are around to help!

This is what I do.
I make the dough and scoop out the cookies with a medium scoop.
Then I put the pan in the freezer and freeze. When they are frozen I put them in a zip top bag. So when I want cookies I just take a couple of dough balls out of the freezer and bake.
Saves the prep time but not the cook time. You could bake and defrost I think but the texture might not be the same.

Yes, of course, you can bake cookies now and some will stay good in a cookie jar but also you can freeze them too (just do not ice them until you thaw them).

I used to bake a different kind of cookies every week and put them in the freezer. Then I had decorated sugar cookies, spritz (Swedish almond cookies), chocolate chip with pecans, etc. ready for dishing out over the holidays. I made cherry/pecan fruit cake in August, kept that in the freezer and poured a different liqueur over it every month (Sabra, that's chocolate/orange, Cherry Kirsch, Peach Brandy, & Almond Brandy). Voila! Truly delicious. The only fruitcake people who hate fruitcake love! Then I had plates of goodies for relatives, especially seniors and batchelors.

I never have. I might try to freeze the dough (form it first) lay it out on a tary, freeze then bag. Bake when ready.

Yes, but the secret is to wrap them very well with plastic wrap then while they are thawing-this is the important part-leave them wrapped. Otherwise, all the moisture will evaporate and they will be dried out. You can also do this with cakes.
