How fast WAS he?? He was so fast that one of his punches broke the speed of light, went back in time and killed Amelia Earhart while she was fliying over the Pacific Ocean...
So fast that his punches could actually alter your DNA...years later, his victims' grandchildren would clutch their head and yell, "HEY! What the hell was that!"
So fast that he could slam a revolving door...
So fast that Einstein's Theory of Relativity states that he could, in fact, hit you yesterday...
Seriously, Bruce Lee trained VERY hard to be absolutely sudden. Since he was not a very big guy, he had to rely on sheer speed to power his techniques instead of mass. Yes, he trained to become very muscular, but it was not a bulky muscular, but a wiry, FAST muscular build. Of course, I don't think there were ever any actual TIMINGS done of his techniques, but let's just say that he was friggin fast.

When he was Kato in the Green Hornet, they couldn't catch his moves on camera because he was too fast, so they had to ask him to slow down so they could film him.

He was pretty darned fast. I don't believe he was so fast that the cameras couldn't catch his moves... but he could still hit you before you knew it.
