Life's too short not to take chances, just go for it because the worst case scenario is it won't be you he likes, but rather someone else. At least if you find out you wouldn't have to live with the regret of "what if", but rather "now i know"

sorry to burst your bubble but if he really liked you, he would say "i like you too". "sum1" is sugnifying that it's somebody else but he knows you'll be hurt if he told you that
dont ask him out--if he liked you back, he should make the first move
