i've got a few very small dark old scars that i really just want gone asap, does this stuff work? how well, how fast? thanks.

It works well only on NEW scars.
Mederma won't make much of a difference if they are old scars, but it's better than doing nothing.
The pigmentation has already set in. You would be better off with a skin bleacher or lightener.
If the scars are raised, microdermabraion works well. The real kind, I mean, not the "micro" in a jar.

Yes, Mederma can work on older scars. It can take a little longer to see results but if you're good about applying it on a consistent basis, it can help to lighten your scar. Patients should gently massage Mederma into the scar three or four times per day for three to six months on existing scars to help lighten their appearance. I'd be happy to send you a sample if you're interested.
