The Joy of Cooking is one of the United States' most-published cookbooks, having been in print continuously since 1936 and with more than 18 million copies sold. It was privately published in 1931 by Irma S. Rombauer

1931. That's when it was first copy righted. The edition I have, was copy righted in 1997. If you buy a copy of Joy Of Cooking, you can see for yourself, on the copy right page, which is the back of the title page, which is where Shakespeare is quoted.
