I have degenerative disk disease, two disk herniations and arthrits. Im 29 and Ive been in unbearable pain pretty consistantly for about a year
Ive tried everything for pain relief rest, all types of shots, PT, accupuncture, massage, yoga, you name it, I tried it. Nothing works. Any suggestion? Natural ones?
And also my employer has had enough, they can't fire me for my medical issues be they are definatly looking in to other ways to get rid of me. Im having a hard time preforming a majority of my job functions. Any ideas for that situation would be real helpful too

I know what you are going through! I have been suffering with this same thing for about a year now. Also, my employer is soooo sick of it too and since like you, can't fire me for it, they are also probably looking for other ways to get rid of me since I also am having a lot of trouble performing my tasks. I can't work the full 12 hours and really cant do a whole lot. I have been put on restrictions at work, like working only 6 hours, no lifting, bending, twisting or turning and must sit down for an hour every hour on the dot. I have also been and still am, going to physical therapy, given anti-inflammatory, pain meds, 2 cortisone shots and getting a 3rd in a week and I've missed probably 2 months of work because of all of this. Every doctor said that it is not bad enough to do anything right now. I have a dry disk and that disk is also beginning to bulge which is starting to irritate a nerve and causing shooting pain down my leg. So, I can really sympathize with you and hope that some good will come out of all of this.

I KNOW EXACTLY what you are going through. I ended up having surgery on mine. (disc) with some bone removal where the nerve was pinched. No one is more scared than I am over doctors...Period! but I did it,and I have never felt better. Everyone has degen. Disc. Disease! It is a natural state of an aging body. I had to deal with the unbearable pain for 10 years. Is surgery an option for the herniated disc? Talk to your doctor, I tried all the things you have described and it got to the point where I wanted to die...and that is unexceptable. You have to be at a point where you spend more time in pain than not. I got home from the hospital after one night and stayed on my feet because I felt so much better. Don't waste any more time of your life, natural cures don't seem to be working so go for the good fix. Only you can weigh the pro's and cons. If you choose to have the surgery I wish you all the best. You can also try inversion tables, but if discs are herniated or the nerve is involved you have to be careful. If you sever a nerve, you'll think you're having a heart attack it is soooo painful. Best of luck to ya!!

I have some degenerative disc disease in my lumbar spine as well as chronic hip bursitis that has been plaguing me for 2.5 years. I have tried all of the things you have tried plus I do take Evista to improve bone density and calcium. Also I was recently put on Cymbalta which is an antidepressant. I insisted I was not depressed but the doctor said that it woud help with my chronic pain. She said they were not sure why it worked but that it often helped. It seems to have taken the edge off somewhat, I feel more limber and I am sleeping better.

Try a T pump and K pad. Its a small machine about the size of a car battery, it heats water and pumps it into the pad that is placed over the painful area. I have degenerative disk disease, bulging disks in my neck and osteoarthritis. The moist heat really helps. Good luck... Have you considered surgery?

degenerative diseases doesn't have any cure right at this moment. but there are ways to slow its progress and for you to live a normal life. just follow the treatment plan given by your doctor or practitioner. do regular exercise and have a regular check up

I'm generally against going under the knife if at all possible, but if you've tried everything, and can't live with the pain, then you may want to talk with your doctor about surgery options.

Did you take physical theropie? I learned streaches and to use ICE and certain back exercises that really helped.i found that my weight and sleeping paterns (like making sure my feet where up and on my back)also has a large thing to do with how sore it becomes.
