Boy...MANY people missed the point of the question. The calendars were different because the black children had to miss more school to help their parents in the field during harvesting season....Sheesh...read, people!

February on the black school calendar has 30 days compared to the 28 days on the white school calender. This allows for two additional days of Black History Month.
