I plan on traveling toward the end of April and I'm wondering if I should book now.

Always book as early as possible. The more other people buy tickets for the flight you want to take, the more the price goes up. There's actually several different pricing levels for economy seats on the exact same flight. Using a plane with 200 passengers as an example... the first pricing level has 50 tickets available; the next level has 75; the next, 50; and the last level has 25 tickets. The airline will sell from the lowest level (called a fare bucket) first, so when those 50 level-1 seats are sold, the price goes up. Airline pricing structures are pretty complicated and most of them do it this way; selling out of the cheapest fares before most people want the tickets means more people are paying higher fares.

So you really want to buy before other people do!

Taking off into the wild blue yonder.

I've been looking at traveling in April as well, and in the past month, the same flight has gone up $75.

It's a secret that only the airline masterminds know. I used to work for an airline and there is usually no 'heads up' on pricing...even for the employees.

Good luck!
