Call each one and explain the problem and let them know that you would like to pay them off by whatever date and see if the will settle. I went on disability and they settled for less with me as long as I made a lump sum payment. Good Luck and sorry to hear of your misfortune, You will be in my thoughts

Why all the thumbs down the answers were not bad and the couple are trying to honor there credit and it is for medical reasons not pleasure

just call the credit company and ask them if they will drop the intrest for you. If not, see if they are willing to make some kind of payment arrangement with you. I think some credit card companies will work with you to lower the interest on your card or make some kind of arrangements with you. If they won't let them know that you will have to look for another credit card company that will be willing to offer you a lower interest rate and that will roll your balance to your new card. This sometimes will want to work with you to keep your buisness with them. Good luck!

I hate to say it but credit card companies have no mercy unless you purchased there protection plan for a situation like this you may be screwed. They are like wolverines when it comes to taking your money and they dont care how hard it is for you to get it to them. I know this doesnt help but I'm telling you what I know. Try to see if you can purchase the protection program from them for short term disability but by now it may be too late. Im very sorry to hear about your bad luck.

Just call them up and ask. I called 2 companies and because I had been a loyal customer for several years and had never had a late payment, both companies said I was eligible for a rate reduction. I was surprised at the outcome. Both were no hassle.

You just have to grit your teeth and call them and explain the situation and that you'd rather NOT file bankruptcy. This usually get's their attention. Of course, sometimes it depends on who answers the phone and sometimes it's a matter of company policy, which seems to constantly change. The key word is negotiation.
