First, immigrants know that America offers many freedoms not available elsewhere, and they are aware of the fact that it is easy to "slip through the cracks." They can find labor easily because employers want to hire cheap laborers. It works out for both parties. In addition, the crime market is easily accessible to them and they know that heavy profit lies in drug trafficking. Drugs are available and very profitable to them.

Immigration issues have been a cornerstone of last 35-40 years of political debate. Jobs that most Americans consider degrading since slavery (Blacks) have fallen into the hands of eager immigrants since the Chinese immigrated to work on the railroads in the 1800's at this time hispanics mostly Mexicans were not considered a threat as the they were viewed as a mirrored society. When Civil Rights Ideas were introduced this country in the late 40's Latin America was also seeing a change in their social stucture with dictators popping up like weeds. Being a Black American with Spanish backround (not African American) I see that the need for workers from other countries is a necessity, but the drain of medical, housing, and other things on a money oriented society as we are, has caused huge animosity not since the great wave of immigrants coming thru Ellis Island have we had this uproar! *Note : even American Indians are immigrants; they migrated across the lands from Asia. They just happen to get here first. Thru science and study No one was created on this continent first.

My mother came here to create a better life for herself and for her family - bottom line. To be able to perform hard labour and get paid more than a dollar and hour for it. To give her children a chance to attend primary and secondary schooling that isn't corrupt because the teachers get paid with cash and not with vodka (sometimes). To give her children a chance to be able to work and get a university education and degree that employers actually take seriously. Not all immigrants come from Mexico, not all of them are bad, not all of them are illegal or plan on becoming illegal, and many of them come here not planning on ever returning home, minus the occasional visit back. This country is a very free country, and others deserve to make a life out of it as well, and many immigrants that come here do NOT take advantage of the system and actually appreciate the benefits and protections America has to offer - unlike many American citizens even realise.

Because America was built by immigrants...if all of the immigrants left...this b**ch would sink like the Titanic...as far as Mexicans...I know for sure there wolud be no California without them...and why is it such a problem when they go to work every day break their ****** backs for mininum wage doing jobs that most of us Americans wouldn't do even if we were paid 50 an hour...I have Mexican friends and I'm aware of the poverty that they live in...in their native lands...So to me if your willing to do whatever it takes by any means neccesary to feed your family...including be degraded by these racist fags we call the government ...then so be it....To all of the Mexican people out there...you have my vote don't be discourage...you guys are an inspiration to me!

Actually there are a lot of illegal immigrants because the USA is a source of better jobs, better salaries and overall a better way of life, most of them can't even apply to get here legally since the documents and requirements needed are usually too strict and too long, and don't have the money to pay for the process itself, therefore they cross illegally in order to either help the ones left behind or simply to start an new better life.

There are so many immigrants in the US because some people in certain other countries have the belief that they can have a better life as an immigrant in the US than they could as a citizen in the country of their birth.

That's it in a nutshell.

It's really quite simple. Even low level jobs that immigrants with poor job or English skills can do, pay far more than what they could make in their home country. So they come here to work. Some will build new lives here, while others send money home to their families they left behind.

This pretty much applies to legal and illegal immigrants.

Who wouldn't want to live in the land of opportunity.Home of the free, land of the brave. We truly are a melting pot, look at all the people from different countries that have chosen to live in the USA. Some immigrants come here to work, legally and illegaly.

The main reason is because it has the best economy in the world. Also, wages are high while prices remain low, that's the paradise. Luxembourg is actually the country with the highest salaries, but everything is really expensive in Europe. Others don't come because of the money, but because of freedom. Their countries have oppressed them all their lives and they want to have rights.
