Directly inciting imminent lawless action means encouraging or facilitating a crime. For example, if I gather a group of people with torches and pitchforks and say, "Come on! Let's go set the town on fire!," then I am inciting imminent lawless action. The imminent is the operative word here, because I could incite lawless action, but as long as the danger were not imminent or could not be directly connected to my actions, I may not get in trouble. To give you another example, I might talk to a friend about how I wish the government would get overthrown. If my friend decides later to take up arms against the government, my simply telling him in an earlier conversation that I wish it would happen probably not be considered incitement or imminent. This law really exists to prevent people from starting riots, but has been used more broadly in practice, even when arguably the danger isn't imminent. The US government goes after groups that help individuals tax dodge by saying that they're inciting lawless action, with a little less emphasis on the 'imminent' part. Conservatives and libertarians often believe that the private sector can do a better job of solving problems in this country than the US government. Their reasoning is that government is wasteful, bureaucratic, and less responsive to needed change than the private sector. They usually advocate laws and policies that would increase the power of the private sector (free market), such as partially privatizing Social Security, deregulating certain industries, encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation through tax cuts, and a general support of the private sector controlling more areas of the economy than it currently does.

Good question, but things in society are strange.

I mean honestly, why is a cow called a cow? If you think about it, it COULD be called a flower or something. Or even, why did someone look at a cows utters and think "Hey, I'm gonna drink the next thing that comes outta that!"

The world is a strange place, but we [as society] have to deal with it.
