Hi there...certainly, however it may take a little while longer. But if you are patient and go very slowly as well as ensure your cat is very comfortable with each step, it can be done.
Here are the step-by-step instructions to begin leash training:

I have only done it with three kittens about six months old (not all at once, mind you!) It's worth a try. Just know that you must use a harness and a leash with her. Cats need the restraint around their bodies as their necks are not muscled like a dog's so a collar and leash could harm them.
So you put the harness on when you are at home. She will probably plop down on the floor and not move at all at first. When she has worn the harness for a few times and is moving around the house freely you just attach the leash and take her outside. When you go outside go to a quiet place like a back garden to take her exploring. A cat can easily be spooked by a dog or loud traffic and can get away from you. Always wrap the leash a number of times around your wrist as a spooked cat can get away from you very easily.

that's by no potential too previous due in case you think of your cat will like it. you're able to initiate education him with leash and harness indoors first so he gets used to it. For the 1st few cases, if he has by no potential went exterior earlier, i does no longer get misplaced too some distance. I had a cat that I had began to coach. the 1st time I extra him exterior, he appeared completely satisfied, jogging around, smelling the grass and each factor and then without notice, he panicked. He replaced into particularly out of control. My bf had to open the door and that i in basic terms permit pass of the leash and he zoomed proper in the homestead. solid factor we've been close in the backyard. i don't be responsive to what extra on that, perhaps a noise of a few variety or different yet in any case, that replaced into the final time we took him out and he replaced into approximately 10 years previous and had by no potential went exterior... appropriate of luck with your kitty and hopes he likes it:)

Yes, as some have said it can be done. Mine were "trained" to wear the harness at 2-3 months old. They are really cute now - when they want to go out, and I hold out their harness, they practically put it on themselves.
But I do not try to take them out in the front of the house where it's noisy and dogs could get them while we're walking. I only take one out at a time so I can focus on them.
They are totally indoor cats and they just get trips into the secure back yard as a daily/weekly treat.
They have both managed to wriggle out of their harnesses once or twice and thank God it was an enclosed back yard!

Well you could first start by putting a harnish on (him or her) then you could go out on a walk and see what the problem is. Like if your cat is a house cat you should probably not walk it. But if your cat likes to walk then you can walk it. Your cats old so you should if you want to put it in obedience trails. Then your cat will learn from a professional and you don't have to worry.
