depends. he might just be close friends and thik of it as if he wer calling a guy she is just one of his buddies or he likes her it all comes down to how they talk what they talk about and how they act around eachother.
i had a simmilar problem exept it was a guy calling my girlfriend everyday (multiple times mind you) it took me a while but i settled on she was just his friend and she meant nothing by it but i have a feeling he wants her.
just observe him and you will figure it out

Could mean a lot of things... but I don't think it necessarily means that he's interested in her.
