He preached repentance, water baptism in Jesus' Name for the remission of sin, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost as the plan of salvation. This was the first message to the New Testament church. Three thousand people were baptized that day. Now everyone here is saying that Peter was wrong. Perhaps Jesus Christ was in error when He gave him the keys to the kingdom?

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Act 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

So, if baptism is an outward expression, then why did Peter so that it was for the remission (removal) of sin?

You can tell me that I am wrong, but I am only repeating what is in scripture. If you have a problem with scripture, then you have a problem with God, not me. Fortunately, God is not swayed by majority opinion. His word is still true.

Eph. 4:5One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

There is only one way to be baptized according to Ephesians 4:5, so someone must be wrong and one must be right in terms of Churches to day. Jesus and Peter where both right. Peter carried out what Jesus said in Matt 28:19 (Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:) Notice it says Name; not names. Jesus said I am come in my Father's name (John 5:43) Jesus also said God would sent the Comforter(the Holy Ghost) in my(Jesus) name(John 4:16) So the evidence of these scriptures is the the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is non other than Jesus.
To express there is only one way to be baptized scripturally (Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name UNDER HEAVEN given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12) To say that either Jesus or Peter was wrong would be absurd. (2 Timothy 3:16 )ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN BY inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: The reason that Acts 2:38 (which is Jesus Name baptism) is so controversial is because it goes against the doctrine of the Trinity. And for good reason. One cannot argue with scripture, if we start pulling out scriptures because they don not support our believe system, the the Word of God itself would be worth nothing. Instead of question the scriptures we should question whether what we believe is scriptural or not. (Psalms 119:89)For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
Hear Oh Israel the Lord our God is one Lord.(Deuteronomy 6:4)
John
John 10:30 I and my Father are one.
And for the people that think this scripture means Jesus and the Father are Like one.
John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? (He said have "I" been so long time "with" you. and yet hast thou not "known" "me") One can only say WOW! This is why Peter baptized in Jesus Only Jesus Name, because he understood Jesus was the Father incarnate.
1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
God cannot remain one when divided into three, he is one in number!!!! Here Oh America the Lord our God is ONE LORD!!!!
Thats why Jesus Name baptism is rejected because to baptize in Jesus rejects three persons of the trinity and supports that Jesus is God the Father robed in flesh which is the Son of God. And how can anyone separate the Holy Spirit from God? Can you separate a spirit from itself? God is a Spirit, you cannot have two omnipresent spirits and yet have one God.
People must rediscover the term "one", One God, One Lord, One faith, One baptism. ONE ONE ONE ONE ONE. Not one group or unity but one person "God" when the Bible say One Lord that means One RULER for the word Lord means ruler. ONE RULER...Also (Zec 14:9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one. ) and his name ONE. Peter fulfilled Jesus command of Matt 28:19 in Act 2:38, Peter understood Jesus perfectly well, and did as Jesus said to do. To be baptized in the titles Father, Son, Holy Ghost is unbiblical, but to be baptized in the NAME of the Father, and Son, and Holy Ghost is proper because Jesus in that name. If Jesus was referring to Father and Son and Holy Ghost as names, He would have more likely put it like this, Baptize in the names of the Father, and Jesus, and Holy Ghost. If Jesus was referring to the titles as names he must have forgotten his own name, and substituted it for Son. Now does that make since for Jesus to do that? No it doesn't. The Bible does not teach three in one but does teach "For in him(Jesus) dwelleth all the fulness of the GODHEAD bodily."(Colossians 2:9) In Jesus dwell all that God is. Jesus is God in Flesh. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the WORD WAS GOD. John 1:14 And the WORD was MADE FLESH...! You cannot divide a limitless Spirit into sections, and if you did manage to separate a unlimited omnipresent one God into three you would actually have four because the fact that God is limitless you could not divide him into three persons completely and there would be a fourth left over which was his previous state before he was divided. God showed Him self to Moses as a bush, so does that mean we have God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit and God the Bush???? How about God the Rock, or God the Mountain, or even God the Donkey? These are all ways that God has showed Himself in past times, and if we must make a God out of all His manifestations we will a a great multitude of gods. well that about sums it all up.

Notice that it is baptism that puts us into Christ so that we can be saved. Galatians 3:27, "For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ." This is the only way a person can get into Christ. The preposition into indicates a change of relationship. You can search from the front to the back of your Bible, and you will find no other way to get into Christ except by being baptized into Christ. Also Romans 6:3 says the same thing, "Or do you not know, that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?" So the only way we can get into Christ is to be baptized into Christ. Either a person has been baptized into Christ, or he is still outside of Christ. We are either in or we are out.

"Join the church" is not a scriptural concept. God added those that were being saved.

I dont get your question. Peter was not wrong. Jesus OF course is not wrong nor has He ever been wrong- what do you find in those scriptures that is so confusing? One must believe and be baptized. It is not through baptism we are saved- but believing- and God commands us to be baptized. The baptism is our outward expression of faith in Jesus Christ.

Repent in Jesus name for the remission of sins and be baptized in Jesus name to join the church. 3000 souls joined the church that day.

Or perhaps God's not as hard-nosed about baptizing in either Jesus name or in the name of the father/son/holy ghost as the Jesus only crowd is. My guess is he will accept either.

They're not saying Peter is wrong. They're saying you're wrong for basing everything on one verse. At least that's what I got from reading the answers to your previous question.

Explain in Acts 5 where Peter's shadow healed those in the street.
If it was God's glory, then he was on the right path.
