Both cultures are equally dissimilar, however we have come to respect and appreciate Japan's people, it's culture, and the friendship we share with the people of Japan.

The same cannot be said about the insurgents in the middle east, whether they be Iraqi, Syrian, Iranian, Saudi, Jordanian, Pakistanian, Egyptian, Palestinian, or Lebanese, they are still our enemy, and we will continue to eliminate them from society, as often as we can.

Wow, never thought of that question. My guess is that the Japanese is still more dissimilar than the Iraqi culture. I say so because Europe and the middle east have had continuous contact with eachother since very ancient times. So there has been more exchange of cultural information.

Definitely, it is the Iraqi "insurgents". The Japanese during WWII had comparable technology, respect for law and order, rational regligious views, valued both technical and liberal education, and were very industrious. The relative cruelty of their military was a result of their Bushido philosophy, but not all were. A friend of mine was a POW, and the C.O. once asked him into his office to teach him to sing "You Are My Sunshine". He wanted to sing it to his girlfriend. I don't think an Iraqi insurgent would ever do that!!! Hope this helps.

Japan as a nation-state was more like the US than the insurgents. Nation-states generally operate on the rational actor principle, that is, they don't want to loose their country or all their people. As stateless individuals the insurgents don't really care about controlling any particular territory or most of the inhabitants of the territory under dispute.

there is realy a huge distinction. THe internment camps in the U. S. have been harsh, yet fantastically much no longer something whilst in comparison with the concentration camps in Europe. IN europe the jews have been singled out in a lot and exterminated, in usa the eastern have been singled out and merely put in the camps. THe Jews have been crushed, attacked, killed and tortured for no reason besides the undeniable fact that they have got been jews. the eastern could have been crushed, and a few could have died, yet no longer even close to the 6 million jews that have been gased then burned in a lot. i'm no longer saying that it wasnt harsh in the U. S., yet in europe it replace into lots worse those activities in background should not be forgotten so we are able to learn from our errors.. desire this helped

They are both dissimilar enough to believe that they can over take the US in combat operations.

That's all I care about. If and when they stop hating and trying to kill us and our culture I could care less what they do, as long as they live in peace with the rest of the world. Until that time, they must die.

well, I'd have to say the iraqi insurgents, simply because they use more basic technology then the japanese had. apart from that, they were similar. suicidal. prisoners usually got killed. but you don't see the terrorists owning aircraft carriers...

Religiously, we have more in common with the Iraqis.
Socially, we have FAR more in common with the WWII Japanese. Though would kill for the Emperor's orders, in their day to day lives, they still placed some value on respect, dignity, and treating each other with decency.
