yes you are missing the point

each story is about 3 differant way one can be lost

the son willingly left therefore had to willingly return (backslider)

the sheep strayed and did not know it was in danger yet and the shepherd had to rescue it. this represents not knowing you are straying from the truth until the preacher preaches to you, and you stop straying (saint)

and the coin dose not know it is lost and can not save itself and need to be found. this is what is is to first com to the knowledge you need to be saved and you respond to the preaching, as in Acts 2:38 (sinner)

No He just knew that people would resist the teaching so he repeated it a few times. Even today people still misrepresent the prodigal son story as being about forgiveness.

It was actually an attempt to explain the unconditional nature of Gods love for us. This was not well accepted by those who wanted a God who would hate and punish their enemy's.
So they spin the story until they get something that is more acceptable to them.

Read it carefully with an open mind and you will see what I mean.

Love and blessings Don

lost son, lost sheep, lost coin? Doesn't sound like the same story to me. Each has differnt meanings. Are the Star Wars trilogy movies all the same?

Scriptureman says:
Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

They are three different states of "lostness" The lost coin was lost in the house. The sheep wandered off ignorantly. The prodigal son intentionally and by design left.

If men are stupid, it's because the Fall not only affected their mind, but their heart, and their will. They don't get it the first time, so you tell them again. How many times do you tell your children to wash their hands? How many times to clean their rooms?

Why do you think adults are any better or any different from children. In fact Jesus said, "Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it at all." Mark 10:15

Obviously God has MUCH to teach us- and many do not understand the parables. Those stories are there for our instruction- to teach us- to help us understand God more. I love how God has more than one story in the Bible that correlates with another-

The Bible often adds emphasis by repetition.
For another example read Psalm 136. and Mark 9:43-48.

by 3 variations do you mean in judaism, christianity and Islam? God didn't create all 3 versions, he created 1, people corrupted it, so he sent it down again, people corrupted that, and then he sent it down again, and it has not been changed since (Quran)

Jesus often said the same thing more than once to stress his point. If he's repeating himself, chances are you ahould pay special attention to what he is saying.

I think men are stupid on their own. God gave em' brains. Why they don't use them is beyond me.
