You're just too dumb to see that they're not really inconsistencies, just a failure on your part to fully understand. it's OK, i forgive you

The bible cantains a few "fail-safe" mechanisms. One of these is the claim that if you don't understand the bible, you weren't meant to (in a nutshell). People will claim that you've read it, but you only read with your mind, not your heart. Rather than address the issues you have, they'll accuse you of just doing a "copy and paste" and tell you to look it up yourself. The worst is those who rationalize these inconsistencies. They turn a blind eye, rather than attempt to gain a little knowledge and insight.
The biggest inconsistency is contained in Genesis. God told Adam that he will die when he eats the fruit of the tree of knowledge. Satan tells Eve that she won't die, but know the difference between good and evil. They eat, and god throws them out before they can eat from the Tree of Eternal Life. Adam is said to have lived 900 years. This proves one very basic thing: God lied, while the "king of lies" told the truth. There are claims that a "spiritual" death is implied, and this is all taken out of context, but I've read Genesis thoroughly...and at no point is spiritual mentioned.
The fact is, the bible was written by men, who claimed divine inspiration. It was compiled and edited by men. Regardless of whether or not god had a hand in it, men make mistakes, and there are hundreds of them in the bible.
Remember that the bible specifically tells you to not think about things such as this...Proverbs 3:5. Apparently, logic and faith have nothing to do with each other, and this passage proves it.

Do you even read the answers people post here on YA's? The purpose of inspiration is not to remove all doubts in your mind about God. It is not to tell us how many angels were at the tomb of Jesus or how old Jehoichin was when he started to reign. It is not to be a science book for you to tell you all the facts about dinosaurs or to tell whether the earth is round, flat, spherical or shaped like a pretzel.
The purpose of inspiration is to lead you to a knowledge of God that will result in you seeing your need for a Redeemer, resulting in your being saved eternally. God did not need to dictate every word of scripture to accomplish this. Mankind, even prophets are human and do err. The Bible was written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. There are some errors that are a result of cultural factors and some that are misunderstandings by the writers themselves. None of the writers of the Bible had a PHD in Biology or Chemistry. They wrote about the stars and planets as they understood them. It would have been strange for Moses to write about computers thousands of years before they were developed. What purpose would that have served?
Again, the purpose of inspiration is not to remove all doubt from your inquiring mind, but to lead you to a knowledge of what is required for your salvation. God has the rest of eternity to teach you about Biology or Chemistry. The Holy Spirit only corrected error in the Bible when there was doctrinal error being introduced as in Revelation 19:10 when John fell down to worship the angel. This contradicted the first commandment.
I hope that all people will begin to understand the reason for inspiration of the Bible and quit arguing about trivial things that are not salvific. Unfortunately, it is the church who has erroneously taught the infalliability of scripture that has caused this debate. Once one gains a proper understanding of the limits of inspiration, the contradictions and errors in the Bible are no longer material. It is the underlying harmony of scripture that is important, only the doctrinal basis that leads to salvation.

I don't believe your dumb but I hope you understand that scholars have tried for centuries to discredit the Bible. All your so called inconsistencies have been asked about over and over again. In fact far more difficult things than these have been addressed. They all have been answered credibly. It is always easy to point out apparent difficulties and it does take learning and study to see how they are worked out. I could ask you if its wrong for me to hit your child and you would say yes. However if I hit your child on the back and saved his life from choking you would say what I did was acceptable. Please study these things you claim and don't just accuse with out knowing.

I am new at learning the Bible. Since I have begun studying, I also ask questions. Each time, those around me have been able to answer me.
Not just Biblical, but scientifically also. I have learned much through study. You would be surprised at the scientific honesty the Bible holds for all of us.
I've used his name here several times, but you might want to google Chuck Mizzler. Check out your questions against him. God Bless.

I saw the post- You do not understand the scriptures. I say this so many times to people, and I stopped because I dont want to sound mean....but without the Holy Spirit, you will not understand certain passages. Yes some scriptures are point blank- but many are written in parables....understanding them comes with the Holy Spirit.
Ecclesiastes 11:5
As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.
And to those who are saved in Jesus Christ:
John 14:26
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Susan, Susan, Susan!
Bats are BIRDS! You're just not looking at them right! You have to look at a bat being a mammal *in context* somehow :D
How about the Easter Challenge? I haven't had anybody explain alllll those inconsitancies that happened, in Matt Mark Luke n John on the most important day of Christianity EVER. The resurrection. Somehow our silly human minds just refuse to understand why it seems like an inconsistancy that 1 man, two men, two angels or 1 angel being at the tomb would be an inconsistancy! To say nothing of the other 24 contradictory things.
How weird to have a belief system where, when someone points out a hole in it, the believers yell at the person pointing out the hole, and dares call them "blind."

Oh I believe you, its like this there is 1000 people standing by their truck 60% like ford and generation after generation have bought them, the other 40% have different types of trucks and those 40% are making the ford truck owners aware of the many inconsistencies in their truck compared to what are being shown in there TV commercials, and they know it, but they feel its better to defend it than expose it, because what will their children drive, Some people just want to hold on to old ways for keepsakes, they know better but just unwilling to say it over, it was a lie we fell for it and now we have to eat crow.

Because its the truth. I can pick out 100 inconsistancies in the news paper tonight but if I read the whole thing (which none of you ever do) I'd see how wrong I was.

I am a Christian. I think they say that because they do not want to believe that the Bible can err. I used to be that way also. I would blindly assert that there is no contradiction and that there was an answer to everything. That's where these Christians are at. They believe there is an answer to everything, but they don't know it. So rather than saying they don't know (which would imply that they may accept the Bible could err) they say you don't know what you are talking about. I was kind of hoping to see some rebuttals by these people, but their evasion actually had me shaking my head.
