well, since the chicken is an 'actual' chicken, whereas the egg is a 'potential' chicken...
I would have to say: CHICKEN

The Chicken. In as much as the biblical Adam is a human and preceeds pregnancy, then it will be logical to think the first chicken egg was laid by a life chicken to kick-start the cycle

I'm always in favour of the egg when it comes to this question. You see my belief is that a chicken must hatch from an egg...at this stage it is a chick then it grows to be a chicken. I just can't accept the notion that a chicken can just exist out of thin air...it is more acceptable to believe that an egg exists, then out comes a chick which grows to become a chicken. I don't know why I think of it in this way, I have thought of it this way for as long as I can remember...it just sems more logical/acceptable to me. Don't ask...lol!!

According to Aristotle the Chicken! The egg is potentially a chicken, where the chicken is reality.

The guy that invented that joke. Then the chicken that laid the egg came from an egg laid from a duck who was the guy that invented that joke. But it was a golden egg. Makes sense ?

You can't get an egg without a chicken laying it first. But then again, you can't get a chicken without it being born from an egg first so.....beats me. I don't think anyone will be able to answer that, unless you ask God of course.

Acording to the creation line of thinking the chicken would have been first. HE created all life. Or a bolt of lightening hit a mud puddel and a one celled thing turned into a fish and then a mamel(us) and some where in between was a chicken. Sound close, you decide.
