I just want to know what the difference is betweent the American Kennel Club and the National Kennel club. My dog is reg. with the NKC. is that a lessor version of the AKC Restration?

NKC is another BYB,Puppy Miller registry set up to make money and register puppies the AKC will not register. No proof of parentage required!!!!

It's for "breeders" who can't meet the AKC's minimal requirements for record-keeping. Since the AKC doesn't require a lot, it makes you wonder just how bad these other breeders are.

lesser is an opinion. Facts AKC is better known. There are about 20 different organizations that register dog breeds. Some are better than others but they all do basically the same thing which is provide a dogs lineage. Some do this better than others but again that is opinion.
Consumers like AKC because they know the name. Many breeders don't like AKC because of the cost to them. Unless you intend to show your dog in competitions I would consider this a minor point. We prefer AKC, not because it is better but because it is better known.

It's like the difference between the ABA and the NBA. Both were basketball leagues, one was bigger with more marketing power, the other eventually succumbed and merged.
