Why so many hotels and motels in the United States are owened and operated by foreigners. I just returned home from a 15 day trip to Florida and spent a total of 4 nights on the road. Each hotel I stayed at, Days Inn, Quality Inn, Ramada Inn and a Best Western were all owned by people from India. I don't have a problem with this until it comes to the rooms being down right NASTY!!! Apparently their standard of "house keeping" does not compare to mine. I don't mind paying for the room as long as the room is clean. Three out of the four rooms were nasty and down right filthy. No refunds are offered nor given if asked. There is such a language barrier that they tend to not understand when they are being told how nasty a room is. It makes me mad! Just how do and why do so many of our american hotels have so many foreign owners and why do they not have to live up to our standards of cleanliness??? They usually have family working for the hotel doing housekeeping and such too!

i never stay in such places, for the most part these are franchised
out like a McDonald's and are not as well watched over like the higher end hotels that are owned by the company and the higher management keeps a eye on them. i have never considered
race or nationality though, its because of the poor quality down turn these hotels have turned into. and never forget, you get what you pay for. Marriott, Hilton, and Clarions only for me.

The reason is of course that we live in a country of free enterprise. What I do, is ask to see the room first, If they dont agree, its see ya The industry is very competitive and if they are not cleaning the rooms they should not be in business very long. Also staying in a bit more expensive chain like Hampton inn or Holiday Inn is much better that the motel 6, red roof, days inn and such.

1) Hi there, you are talking about a country of market force. You do not exist if you do not deliver. As the hotels you mentioned exist, they do deliver.

2) More by design than by chance, you preferred to stay in "filthy hotels" and the obvious reason would naturally be low cost. For low cost you can't employ left, right and centre to keep the rooms clean.

The outcome, then my friend, is to compromise. If you want cleaner environs pay the right amount. It is absolutely nothing to do with "foreigners" owning. Even if it is owned by third generation American it would be filthy - after all US is a country of market force!!!

Well, as you mentioned all the places you stayed at are part of major hotel chains. So, you could send a complaint to the main company and if they are keen on keeping their reputation they will do something about it.

Good Luck!
