It is amazing to me how large of a problem this is in the Catholic church. Do not know if the church atracts gay men because they are not allowed to have sex but suspect this has much to do with the problem. A man may be gay so he hides the fact by becoming a priest. Then he takes advantage of children. I am glad I was not born Catholic although their schools are to be admired. I am even more thankful that I was not born into any religious group that is opressive and turns humans into robots. Any religion that preaches hate is not a real reigion in my opinion.

I was raised a catholic and it amazed me that the cathlic community accepted priests from other parishes who it was rumoured had been sexually assaulting little boys. I am not sure if the catholic religion has a bigger problem with child sexual assault than other religions but when I was growing up there seemed to be a lot of priests being relocated. I think due to the fcat that there is more knowledge on the subject and more people talk about it and more suings that things have settled down. The Church of England have had a lot of issues with Child SExual Assault and the Jehova Witnesses have also had very public issues with child sexual assault so who knows!!

How do you know? Where did you get your information? All paedophiles don't belong to the Catholic Church. How easy to round them up if they did. At least it's out now and people will never again give anyone, priest or not, that kind of power over their children.

Why do you want them to admit that - is it true? I doubt it. Sexual interest in children cuts across all cultures, races, religions. We have an unfortunate habit of point large accusing fingers at soft targets, don't we???? It gives us a sense of superiority.

I'm not defending Catholicism- there are indeed cases of pedophilia- but where have you found statistics on both reported and UNreported pedophilia in all religions in all cultures in the world? Do you realize there are thousands? If you did get such statistics, please post them under "More Details," because I would be fascinated to read such a study.
