A 4-month old puppy should be fed 2-3 times a day.
You should feed the puppy the amount suggested by the manufacturer of the food, and based on the weight of your puppy. Remember to part out the amount recommended, between the 2-3 feedings.

I would feed a young puppy three times a day, taking the recommended daily amount and dividing it between those three feedings. I would also recommend a high quality food for puppies. Royal Canin has an excellent food for "Baby Dog" which has a tiny kibble and it is a high quality food.
My dogs are grown now and they eat twice a day. The reason I feed them twice is because they are larger dogs and could be subject to stomach problems if they ate only once.

I feed my 3 month-old about 1/4 or 1/3 of a cup three times daily. I feed her at 8am, 3pm and again at 8pm. Yeah.. She's a small breed, too. About 6 pounds now.

How much and how often should you feed a small breed dog who is 18bs but very skinny? Just rescued him and do not want him fat but he is so skinny right now.

Most puppy foods come with weight charts on them. They are usually very accurate. If you still are not sure you can call any vet or local shelter. For me to guess could cause you to over feed it and create health problems. Good Luck and god for you on being careful and thorough

They eat whatever amount the bag says, twice a day. It is important for dogs to eat good dog food so they get all their nutrients and don't get overweight (which is easy for a small dog to do). Iams and Eukanuba are both good choices. Additionally, dogs usually like to have a few treats throughout the day!!
