GE 11:32 Terah was 205 years old when he died (making Abram 135 at the time).
GE 12:4, AC 7:4 Abram was 75 when he left Haran. This was after Terah died. Thus, Terah could have been no more than 145 when he died; or Abram was only 75 years old after he had lived 135 years.

For one... your first one GE 11:16 "Terah was 70 years old when his son Abram was born." is not in fact the verse in which you say it is... The one you put down Gen 11:16 says this "And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg". So, make sure you quote correctly.

Here is what is written in the King James Version.
Gen 11:
26 And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
28 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29 And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.

Gen 12:4 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. (This passage just reflects on Abrahm was 75 years old when he left Haran, he lived 5 years there after the death of his father. Is there a problem with that?)

Acts 7:4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell. This does not speak of Abraham

(Acts 7: 1Then said the high priest, Are these things so?

2And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,

3And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

4Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.

5And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.

6And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.

7And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place. ......)

Now that you have been found to not quote the scripture correctly... I have nothing more to say.

Good try but no cigar.

1. Genesis 11:26 NIV
After Terah had lived 70 years, he became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran.

It is quite possible that Terah began to father children at the age of 70, and he did not father Abram until he was 130. These passages seem to suggest that Abram was not the eldest child of Terah.

2. Colossians 1:15 NIV
[ Speaking of Christ ] He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Remember the Trinity-- the Father, the Son Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. It is God, but like 1 x 1 x 1 = 1. So, Jesus Christ is the image of the the invisible God. The Greek word used for "image" is "eikōn". It can mean the "likeness" of, or the "representation" of.

3."Sons" may mean "descendants" or "successors" or "nations"; in verses 10:2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 20-23, 29 and 31. And what is wrong with the idea of some of chapter 11 taking place BEFORE these nations had different languages? The Bible is not written in perfect chronological order, so if that is going to be the basis of your argument, then might I kindly suggest that you should re-think it?

4. Jeremiah 7:21-23
21" 'This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go ahead, add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices and eat the meat yourselves! 22 For when I brought your forefathers out of Egypt and spoke to them, I did not JUST give them commands about burnt offerings and sacrifices, 23 but I gave them [also!] this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you. [emphasis mine]

I think that speaks for itself.

5. Again, what is the following verse?

Hebrews 11:18
even though God had said to him, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned."

Isaac was the one son through whom Abraham's seed would go through to fulfill God's promise to Abraham. It was only through Isaac, not Ishmael, that all the nations of the world would be blessed. As God said to Isaac:

Genesis 26:4
I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed,

I hope that this might help answer your questions. As you can see, there is no error in the Bible. The only "contradictions" are produced by man's confusion. If there appears to be a contradiction, oftentimes the problem can be solved by going back to the original text, or referencing commentaries. God bless!

To make it easier to follow, let's call Terah's birthday year 0.

0 Terah is born

70 Abram is born

145 Abram leaves Haran

205 Terah dies

You assume that Abram left when Terah died, but this isn't true. It's common for the Old Testament to restate events, this happens every once in a while in writings like those in the Bible. It was simply a literary tool, a sort of summary.

Whenever it says, "this is the account of (?)" (as it does in Genesis 11:27) it's a summary detailing specific events in the person's life, it isn't contradicting what was said before, it simply gives more detail. Genesis does this, with regard to creation. Genesis 1 gives an account, and Genesis 2 gives a summary.

First Genesis 11 states that Terah was 70 when he had Abram. It also states he lived to be 205. Genesis 11 says that Abram left his fathers house when he was 75. Where does it say Terah died before Abram left? Just because it says that Terah lived to be 205, does not mean he died before the next statement in the next chapter came to pass. Like John who lived to be 75 then he died, was 55 when he retired from his government job.

This is said numerous times this way, throughout the Old Testament, regarding many people. Who the birthed, how old they were when they died, then they go the childrens story... it never says he lived there the entire time Terah was alive.

P.S. It was Genesis 11:26 not 11:16

Second... God is seen in the manifestation He chose to be viewed. The Father has never been seen by human eyes, except when in the flesh as Jesus Christ. No one can see the true manifestation of God and live.

Third it says that the language of the earth was confounded. Where does it say that all the earth had only one language... It only says the Babylon inhabitants had one language, and it was confounded. Plus tongue was the term used in Genesis 10. Confounded the language used in chapter 11 could have meant that no one could understand each other not changed their tongues.

Fourth- In Genesis 15 it details the actual Exodus and it is exactly as Jeremiah 7:21-22 says. He told them to walk in His commandments. Further in Jeremiah, because they could not do it, He institued sacrifces to make up for it, as accounted in the other scriptures.

Abrahams son Isaac got the blessing and the birthright for he was born of Abrams wife Sarah and not her maid Hagar. Hagar took Ishmael and left. Therefore Abram only had one son in his care. Ishmael was illegitimate.

If you truly want to find the answers to your questions. THAT IS, IF YOU HAVE AN OPEN MIND & AN OPEN HEART. Then Research it. REALLY STUDY IT. Really study the ALL THE FACTS & ALL THE EVIDENCE, scientifically, archeology, historically, logically and you leave no stone unturned, leave nothing unexplored, leave out no idea no matter how crazy it might seem to you at the time (Including the very idea that God might actually exist and everything written in the Bible MIGHT, JUST MIGHT have really happened the way it was written), THEN and only then will your journey will be complete "And the Truth shall make you free".

I quote two people....

"If you eliminate all that is possible, whatever remains however improbable must be the truth". - (Sherlock Holmes) from the book "A Sign Of Four" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step". - Ancient Chinese Proverb

Here is an example of the BS ye shall receive:

"Maybe HE 11:17 was written before Abraham bore his second son! Were you there?"

Again, if youre looking for logical responses to this question, you are not going to get them here. The reason these inconsistencies exist is because the Bible is not the work of God and was indeed written by many men to serve self-serving purposes. But you wont catch a beleiver telling you that truth.

Genesis 11:16 says nothing about Terah, it talks about Eber, get your references right
its supposed to be Genesis 11:26- that would mean that you would have to assume that Abram and his two brothers are triplets because it says, "Terah lived seventy years, and became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran."
Haran apparently got married before Abram and Nahor because he was having children before Abram and Nahor were even married, which would suggest he was oldest out of the three.
Genesis 12:4, Acts 7:4- since Abram could have been begotten after Terah was 70 it is possible that he was in his seventies when his father died

The Bible doesn't specify how God appeared to Abraham, it doesn't say He appeared to Abraham face to face, it doesn't tell us how he saw Him
Genesis 32:30: "Jacob called the name of the place Peniel : for, he said, 'I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.'" Your life can't be preserved if there was a chance that it would be destroyed
Exodus 3:16- read the whole chapter, this was the burning bush experience, when God appeared to Moses at the burning bush
Exodus 6:2-3- again this doesn't specify how He appeared to them, He appeared to Moses in the burning bush, He may have revealed Himself to them in some other way
Exodus 24:11- "And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink."
it doesn't say that they saw His face, it says they saw Him, so fare Moses was the only one to commune with God directly, God told them that everybody but Moses was to worship from a distance, and only Moses was to come near, but they came near anyway. He spared their lives and didn't kill them for their disobedience, read the previous verses
Exodus 33:11- Read the verses before v. 11, they say a pillar of cloud appeared at the doorway of the Tent and the pillar of cloud spoke with Moses, this was one way God appeared to Moses and spoke face to face (directly) with him
Numbers 12:7-8- "With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?"It doesn't say he already saw God's face, it says he shall behold, which means it is to come
Numbers 14:14- "and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you Yahweh are in the midst of this people; for you Yahweh are seen face to face, and your cloud stands over them, and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night."
they are in canaan in this chapter and have just spied out the land, this after mount sinai where he revealed himself to those elders and moses, when he spared their lives
Job 42:5-Go back to chapter 38, you will see he appeared to Job in a whirlwind, not face to face, God had never appeared to Job at all, in any form, just spoke to him, now God has visited Job in a whirlwind and he has spoken to Him so he said He saw God because God just visited him
Amos 7:7-8 -we don't know how the Lord appeared, all this scripture tells us is the description of one of the visions given to Amos, in this one the Lord is standing next to a wall made by a plumb line, and the Lord gives the interpretation
Amos 9:1-this is another vision, again it doesn't specify if he saw the Lord's face, he just saw the Lord beside the altar
Exodus 33:20-Moses is asking to see the glory of the Lord, this means God would have to appear fully to Moses for Moses to see the full glory, but the Lord can't show him that because then Moses would have to die, so he hides him and passes by and lets Moses see his backside and the glory as it was passing him
John 1:18-nobody has seen him fully, moses only got to see the backside, not his face
1 John 4:12- same thing with John 1:18
Genesis 10:5, 20, 31- all the same family, in different areas, are going to speak different dialects and versions, the Mexican version of Spanish is different from the Argentian version, same language, different dialects, they could all understand each other
Genesis 11:1-same language, different dialects, they could understand each other and communicate
Genesis 15:9- these animals are for a sign of covenant that God would give Abraham a son
Jeremiah 7:21-22- think about it, He didn't at first, the order for sacrifices didn't come until the people kept sinning and wouldn't follow God that the sacrifices had to come in as a way of redemption and cleansing, and it didn't start until they were settled
Hebrews 11:17- Ishmael and his mother, Hagar, were kicked out of the family so Ishmael wouldn't have been considered a son since he was disowned and no longer part of the family, once you're disowned you're not considered part of the family anymore so they would say he only had one son since that was the only one in the family (Ishmael was gone).

have you ever played the telephone game? you have a line of people tell the person in the front a sentance, and have them speak it one by one all the way back whispering, when it gets to the back of the line the person says out loud what was said, and somewhere in the middle it got skewered.

these people didnt have anything to document with. we know god didnt give adam and eve pen and paper from the get go.

*shrug* this is why i dont understand why people believe the bible to be completely true. they are proclaiming these men who wrote the bible were infallible, even though we see flaws and contradictions everywhere.
