The key is to burn more calories than you take in. You HAVE to exercise in order to lose weight that will stay off. Modify your diet. It doesn't have to be a formal or starvation diet. Just change your eating habits - find what works for you. You know what's "bad" and what's not as you're putting it into your mouth. Listen to that voice and learn to curb your urges to "cheat." Once you (or others) begin to see the results, it usually motivates you to do even better. Good luck to you!

Don't listen to the ones calling you names, I think that is totally uncalled for. They probably have never experianced what it is like to be overweight. Myself I have never had a problem w/ weight, so I don't know, but I am a open minded and compassionate person that knows that eating and drinking right aren't always enough. Have you watched the show "The Biggest Loser"? Well you have missed out if you hadn't! I mean they are put on diet programs and excersise programs that made some drastic changes in the end! So you do need to get up and do a little excersise, but what you can do is while eating healthy start excersising a little bit in the beginning and work your way up to a good heart pumping sweat flying workout and you will definately see a difference. If you are greatly obese then you may want to consult your doctor on a healthy routine for you to start out w/ at 1st b/c you may over do it and have a heart attack or worse so just check w/ your doc and you should be in shape in no time at all! Good luck and God Bless!

You might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout as well.

Sarah, take a moment to check out RadiantRecovery.com and see if you don't find the answers you're seeking.

If reading every link from the homepage takes too long, you can post on the bulletin board there: The Community Forum. Just introduce yourself and ask for help in finding your answers.

Everyone there is very supportive--I would even say compassionate.

First, you really aren't being specific enough about your current lifestyle for anyone to answer in a really detailed way...but here goes...
1. You need to move your body! Not just cardio, that will only lead to a smaller, still flabby body. Check out Eddie Baran's Body Sculpting Body Weight Exercises for Women (www.EddieBaran.com).
2. Cut down on white, starchy carbs. The simple fact is that most of us consume wayyy too much of these. (white sugar, white bread, white rice, etc.) Brown rice, sweet potatoes, whole wheat bread are all good alternatives.
3. There is a line of supplements to support weight loss out there called Isagenix. I have to recommend it because it helped me lose 4 inches off my waist in a week. No kidding. IF you are interested, you can check out www.IndigoConsulting.Isagenix.com for more information.

Wishing you health and happiness~~

Loosing weight is a matter of calories. If you burn more than you consume you WILL loose weight. It is a physical FACT. This means you should be exercising to burn more calories than you consume. There is nobody alive who will not loose weight if they consume less than they burn. All you have to do is get a general idea of how many calories you take in each day, and make sure you burn more off. There is a difference in how easy it might be for you to loose weight. If you have a slow metabolism, your body might not burn off as many calorise during daily living, which means you may have to work out longer or eat less than someone with a high metabolisim.

Dieting will only do so much, but you're on the right track! Get moving. Walk around your block, go to the gym, find a friend to work out with. I know it takes some motivation, but you can do it!
